Andrew, max and I changed the clutch plate in the white 22 yesterday. Andrew also, rejetted the carbies. We'll stick in the rca's today and then it's ready to roll at the tampered day and then the 6hr.

Sorted a few more issues on mine too.

Retract my statement from ealier. The white 22 has issues- compression results as follows:

    1- 200 2- 200 3- 50 4- 200

This combined with stacks of blowby led us to believe perhaps a ring had failed. Removal of head and then piston 3 showed broken piston, rather than broken rings. Strange markings on the intake side valve reliefs would suggest valves hitting- but the valves show no signs of hitting. Next idea was sticky valves- bit it does have rr4 performance double valve springs. Final idea was detonation and potentially shitty piston.

Bottom line - it needs another rebuild.

If we can get pistons and have them flycut this week we should make the tampered day. We also need a head gasket, 3tc one will do in a pinch but prefer 2tg/3tg? Ed can clarify.

The most difficult part is getting to the bottom of the cause.

    My car runs again!

Need to make some adjustments to the timing or starting throttle position, as the throttle needs to be opened whilst starting and held open to allow it to continue running.

At least I'm now on track to have it out next track day.

So what is the benifit to running the Tampered Motorsport Day next Sunday (26/9), instead of the Winton Test and Tune Day next Friday (24/9)?

The Tampered days are double the price aren't they?

They are around $165 from memory. Ed won't make it to the Friday and I'm out for the week after that, plus the white car is in ICU and we'll need that Fri/Sat to sort her out.

Also, unless you have leave you can take, the Friday equates to a day of lost earnings. I'd like to come watch, but i can't afford to take another Friday off.

    Race car won't start >.<
Plugs are blacker than the night so gonna get some cheapies to get it going and its booked in to get carbies tuned on monday. Suspect thats why it was struggling to idle after the last couple of runs.
