You need a splitter simon
that might help get the temp down , as it creates a vacuum behind , it and draws heat out of the engine bay
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
Yeah, don't think I can afford one at the moment though. At least not before the 6 hour.
I think my overheating issues will be nicely sorted once I put this alloy rad in.
did your tyres have enough clearance
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
Tyres were rubbing on the way to the track, but I fixed it by adjusting the panhard rod and with a clawed guard roller... AKA claw hammer...
Plenty of clearance now, and no rubbing.
Here is the team summary/description that i've written for Team Celica.
Team Celica
Team Celica consists of 6 blokes in their twenties driving their first generation Toyota Celica’s. The first generation of Celica was sold in Australia between 1972 and 1977…. Approximately 15yrs prior to our youngest driver being born.
These early Celicas were proper sports cars with relatively powerful 4 cylinder engines, 5 speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive layout. They came in both coupe and fastback variants. The distinctive chrome elements and American muscle car inspired shape also gives them a visual appeal that was arguably lost in the subsequent models.
While extensive modifications have been made to our cars, all remain loyal to the marque in relation to their engines. Three of the cars are running hotted up Celica motors whilst the rest have modern fuel injected turbo engines that have been taken from various Toyota models. One has a 1.6L 20valve turbo 4cyl, one 2.0L 16valve turbo 4cyl. and one 2.0L 24valve turbo 6cyl.
This will be Team Celica’s 3rd AROCA Winton 6-hour in its current form. The team is mostly unchanged from last year with the exception of two drivers that are each competing for the first time. Increased focus on planning and preparation last year returned a much better than expected result. We finished 15 places higher than we did in 2008. This year we hope to replicate that kind of improvement and break into the top 10.

Oh and Eddie... you aren't fast enough until you appear on this page

I reckon Van is right... you could be heaps faster if you go the semi light weight race car spec of improved production or better yet the ultra light weight sports sedans.. use all the suspension freedoms allowed in those regs... spend all the money you can on brakes and drive lines... bolt a new set of slicks on for each outing... use titanium fasteners and cable ties to hold it all together... oh yeah... and drop the street rego and make it a trailer only proposition![]()

Stephen's (RA40-Rossco) Tampered Motorsport track Day lap times added to post #648.
Any one got any additions or subtractions to this if I post it to Neil for Team Rising Sun?
Team Rising Sun was born from Ian Bennett’s passion for the Winton 6 Hour. Initially there was to be one team of classic Celica’s, but such was the enthusiasm for Ian’s proposal, that soon one team became two, and the motley crew of extra Toyotas, Japanese cars, and Holden ring-ins became Team Rising Sun.
2010 will be the group’s third crack at the 6 Hour with some of the same people, some returning from 2008 and some new members. Our cars consist of three different model Celicas covering the spectrum of early classics, a supercharged Mazda Capella that would scare Grandma, and a “mighty” Detomaso spec Daihatsu Charade, which really does need a Ford V8 in it like the Pantera.
Our goals are simple – have a great weekend of club motorsport with some good mates and hopefully pick up a few bonus laps along the way. If we all finish in the same condition we started in that would be even better!
