sounds like turbo to me, how long has teh GT35R been on for?
1jz, gt35/40r
running castrol edge 10-60w
toyota red coolant
as in title, couple months ago i had a top tank of the rad blow on me without exactly realising ( thought the rad cap just let a shit load out haha )and drove home.. ended up buying a 2jz replacement water pump + new 52mm alloy rad.. everything seemed fine, drove fine, for probably 3 months now its been fine
lately starting to get a fair amount of blueish smoke out the exhaust, at idle theres abit, driving normaly without boost theres some. boosting/decell theres ALOT) but after boosting a couple of times it seems to go away for a while then come back bit later on which you would think is either turbo seal or the stem seals? the turbo seems somewhat noisier than usual
any ideas to figure out the exact cause? is there some oil additive that might help?

turbo was on the car when i baught it 2 years ago, who knows how long before then
it spools normaly with no shaft play

The boosting/decel smoke would make me suspect the stem seals more than the turbo oil seals, but it could still be either.
Good news is that you can do the valve stem seals without removing the head, so even though its a pain in the ass job its still fixable![]()
it now seems that any amount of throttle in gear is making a blue smoke cloud out the back,( really bad ) this is pissing me off. does it seem more like the turbo seal?
want to get it fixed ASAP

usualy valve stem seals is only on startup
ive blown a fair few turbo seals in my 1jz ownership and it definitely sounds cactus.
take off your turbo - cooler pipe. if its full of oil you got bad news![]()
valve stem seals blow blue on start up, and if you idle it for a long while, you'll get some smoke on decel, but in my experience i could barely notice it.
sounds like turbro.
after pulled the turbo off to find the inlet was pooling with oil and so were the i/c pipes. as far as i can tell the wheels and shaft seem fine. the bearings a little noisey
ive got it sent away to get a quote atm, so i'm eager to find out how much it will cost me
