I would be vaguely worried about spacing the water pump pulley out too much, especially if the belt will be sitting on the outer rather than the inner of the pulley. Mainly due to the lateral loads on the bearings.

Ok, i went into Outlaw today and measured up the kit which they had on the shelf.
The water pump (which i was most interested in) had four holes of a 43mm PCD and the other four of a 53mm PCD. The reason for the 2 sets of holes is that there were two different Chev water pumps during their lifetime, so they just drill two sets of holes for them.
The water pump pulley was a 111mm pulley as well.

The crank pulley had a plethora of holes on it, and while i didnt have the time to measure them up it was 114.3mm wide.

Yeah, the spacing I could get down to 10mm I think, with the right fasteners. The reason for 20mm was so that there'd be room to incorporate some sort of damping system. I think the lateral loads would be OK, don't gimler belts run much lower tension than a Poly V belt?

I'd expect a lot lower load than normal belts as they don't rely on friction to prevent slipping.

To answer the previous question I had the front (power steering groove) machined off and another section regrooved as the pulley was off something completely different (out of an assorted box and happened to slip onto the crank). Needed clearance for the sway bar and wasn't running power steer anyway (MS55)

Yeah, gemini timing belts are pretty standard for gilmer drive stuff.
Ill be investigating the pulley stuff more soon as im not going out to the track this weekend.

Hey guys Im still on the case to do this but I keep getting pipped on the ebay auctions Anyways, can anyone help me understand if I get the small block chev kit, weather the short of long water pump version will really matter??

Aparently the 3TGTE I have has the long waterpump, but im thinking the new glimer WPP will have to be spaced toward the front of the car for clearance anyways as im going from standard width to 1.5" wide??

    Thoughts??

I ended up getting one but it looks like it will have to be mounted to the existing crank pulley to keep the original harmonic balancer. This then makes it impossible to mount fans behind the thick alloy radiator I have so I am now redesigning the alloy rad to sit under the rad support. It will just be a matter of lining up the other pulleys with some spacers from there
