The water pump and alternator pulleys dont have any rubber in them at all, so they would be fine to have a simple replacement. The crank pulley i see no worries in making a complete replacement if the pulley itself is balanced.
So that should be alot cheaper if the harmonic balancer can be machined down to take the gilmer pulley, plus my harmonic balancer has got the possibility of running two belts and i only need one so should be able to easily run a wider belt, but i dont know about you guys if your running air con or even p/s cause you would need to keep the front belt pulley on the balancer.
Takai - with getting those balancers made up would they have the rubber inside them or not. i'm pretty sure the rubber is a really vital component in extending life of water pump and alternator.

Ok guys I dropped into a hotrod shop in Penrith today and the guys there were bloody legends...I measured up a small block chev pulley kit...the crank was 115mm,water pump 105,and alternator 70mm,he said it really doesnt matter what size crank pulley you use infact he said most engines run 1-1 size for the crank/water pump and he said the alternator will be pretty much the same across the board,he said the only thing having a smaller crank pully might do is limit the amount of time you are actually charging the alternator,eg under 2000rpm the alternator isnt charging..as for making them fit the bore size you just get the machinest to make up a sleeve if its too big or bore it out to suit the size you need if its too small..
Now there is a guy on ebay selling gilmer drive pulley kits for 130 bucks,I think I may get one and see what I jag from the set..can anyone else please confirm or deny the theory of different pully sizes affecting anything major??
cheers

No, the differing pulley sizes will only alter the ratios which everything is driven at.
The only worry i woudl have is spacing of the pulleys to keep them reasonably aligned.
Care to link to the guy on eBay?
EDIT: That smallblock chev sizes are bloody perfect. Ill certainly be dropping into Outlaws on Thursday to see what they have.

I tell you guys what, this aids virus must be starting to affect my brainI just re measured my crank pulley and its 120mm not 200mm..(in the famous words of Chopper)"Im semi bloody illeterate"
So what that means is the small block chev kit is spot on for the 3tgte,the only thing is the offset for the waterpump was 60mm compared to 45mm but this can be solved no probs with some longer nuts on the waterpump and some spacers...I also noticed on the hotrod they had it on that the pulleys were 2" wide but the belt they were using was only
1" widethis will hopefully alow some extra mm adjustment either way...Im just guna check what the guys on the gemini forum have replied as to the sizes of their pulleys but this may not mean anything as I havent seen the one advertised on ebay to suit a gem..Only through rocket ate 380 bucks

I have asked this guy in the past what the sizes of the pulleys are to which he replied he didnt have any there to measure so he must be selling without holding any stock, but I have just sent him another email to see if I buy a couple can I save some dosh and also if I can pick up and save some money that way.
stay tuned

not to flog a dead horse, but with the Eagle Pd, you can get 34/44/20 (close the the 4A's 33/43/19) in 8mm pitch/32mm wide, and 14mmpitch/35mmwide
anyone wanna see what they cost?

At $150 for the chev kit with belt im quite happy to direct my efforts towards finding the cheapest way to have them modified...surely having the bores either made bigger or sleeves made up cant be that expensive and as for the water pump bolt holes not lining up thats a piece of piss...maybe you can give us an idea mullet..? Ill obviously provide you with more info as I get it on what has to be done..Originally Posted by takai
