    Default 1uz-fe won't idle,any ideas?

I have wired up a 1uz into my 2wd hilux and it ran fine, idled, revved cleanly but all of a sudden it won't idle now, the only thing i did was wire in the alternator so i unplugged it and it still won't idle. I should point out that the conversion is not finished yet and the radiator is not in yet so its only run in for seconds at a time. It has only got the five wires and hard wired fuel pumps at the moment to run but i can't figure out why it changed all of a sudden, any ideas welcome, thanx Mick

wat do you mean by it wont idle??

does it rev up and down?
    does it just stall?

if it idles up and down it could be the idle speed control valve isnt plugged in properly, or its damaged, or your intake is leaking (after the iscv)

if it just stalls, not sure, try re-setting ecu and go from there!
it could be lots of things!

Finish the installation properly, wire it up properly as per Toyota wiring standards, and THEN chase the idle problem.

from past experience, people often neglect to supply power to the ISCV. the 2 inner pins need +12V switched from the ignition.

Hey there mate... finish wiring everything up as the computer would be looking for all the sensors to know the motor is running.... thats more then likely the reason as the computer is looking for everything and not getting a answer back....

Yeah mine was playing up too, but after exhaust system (O2 sensors fitted) & fitting a small 3mm restrictor from the inlet side to iscv idles alot better & getting better the longer it runs too.

If you've fitted a restrictor on the ISCV it means the ISCV is not working.

The ISCV is designed to work without any restrictor. It will keep the RPM to what the ecu wants (depending on conditions).
If you have found that the idle is too high, and by fitting a restrictor is has come down to something more acceptable, then the ISCV is not working.
    Either because
    a) its not wired correctly
    b) its faulty, or
    c) the ecu is not entering idle mode because the TPS is not configured properly.
