im pretty sure moss could answer this question.
Hi all,
Im finally at the point where i need to seriously consider engine options from my RA28.
Really, there are only two options, the 1UZ and the later VVTI 1UZ.
Im going fully road engineered and RTA approved with this car, so the 1UZ (which ever flavor i choose) will need to run on the factory ECU to pass.
Now, my question is... how difficult will it be to get the VVTI 1UZ running on its factory ECU?
Do these use the coded key immobilizer, multiple ECUs all over the place, etc, etc?
Does anyone have wiring diagrams for any 1UZ VVTI powered Toyota?
... i am an Electronic Tech, so im really after specifics on where problems will be.
The smaller problems i shouldnt have any problem working out myself.
Thanks y'all!

Yep - Mos is the man to speak to.
I think i remember him talking about the coded key on the VVTI 1UZFE, so that may be a problem.... however i also remember Sideshow mentioned he is able to do something to bypass that.
...... butt scratcher?!
given that mos is running an sm4 these days, i doubt sideshow has a fix![]()

if you go standard 1uz, then we can compare notes...although i also want to try and integrate the dash from the soarer in my attempt. (i'm frightened by the amount of wires under the soarer but.)
I had a look at the complete 1/2 cut today.
Its a UZS-151 Crown.
It had the keys with it, which look quite small.
The keys have a door unlock button, but that is all.
