that 7 thou shit is a ploy to get your money i'd say.
it really doesn't matter that much, as long as the cams turn freely.

Thats crap how they recon they are only gonna shave it 7tho.

My 7M head was shaved 18 thou, and my block was shaved 9tho after the previous owner majorly cooked it...i think the higher compression this woulda made is why i beleive it goes so well for a GE

Coz its more effort than putting the 5me head on the 5mge block.
Well, it was more effort until chucky cheese told me that I'd have to swap the whole front of the motor over.

that's not what they meant robbo, they claim that you can't just skim a head if it's got a warp of more than 7thou, which is rubbish.

No, they say that THEY WONT skim a head if its got more than 7 thou warp.

I have no doubts that other shops will.

He made it clear that he could do it more than 7 thou, and it would work, but he wouldn't. To be perfectly honest, I'm inclined to agree with him, the more the height gets changed the more it screws around with everything else.

how much reliability is your mate after? if it's just a daily commuter car, the clean up both sides of the head and then bolt the head back on wit ha good coating of goop on the headgasket.

is a shame you're not in qld, i'd give you the dodgy 5ME in my unregistered ma61 (head gasket done as noted above).

speaking of 5m electronics, i know a guy in Toowoomba (Qld) selling a microtech ecu and harness setup for agressive 5/6mge engine - PM me if anyone's interested
