Ah ok that could be what it is! but its quite a small button! i'll go take a pic of it and throw it up on here.

I've heard rumours that the LS400 windscreen doesn't fit. But I can't remember if it was the front or the rear?
Interesting to note that the side windows all have LEXUS and TOYOTA written on them, where as the front only has TOYOTA.

Disconnect the battery for a few mins (to reset all the ecu's) then reconnect it and do an engine diagnosis (TE1 and E1) and a system diagnosis (Ts and E1 I *think* - one of the other T's).

You'll find all the dash lights will start blinky error codes (or no codes) at you.

Write them down. These are obviously the major issues the system has (open/short circuit sensors, or missing completely).

Then take it for a drive and redo the checks, see if any else have come up.

This checks TRC, Cruise, ABS, Airbag, Suspension, few others maybe.

As for the transmission problems you say you might be having, I've noticed that when you press the pedal down, there is something stopping you from putting it all the way down, then if you use some force with your leg you can press it all the way down and it will kick down.

actually there is also another button written in all japanese on the radio controls, anybody know what that does?

That button on the radio is a dedicated emergeny frquency button. Only used in Japan to warn of eathquakes and Tsunami's, or if you have overloaded the flux capacitor.

Trac light will illuminate if there is a bunch of corrossion on the spline near the ABS sensor. I pulled one out, and found a slab of corroded metal bridging the magnets on the end of the sensor. A detailing brush set from Bunnings, and can of carby cleaner had all four sparkling clean .

    cheers Chuck.

Z2TT - Yeah i think your right, there is a big button switch thing under the accelearator, i did take it for a drive today to work and stepped on it, and yep she goes quite well, shifted back and shot up to 160km/h in a very short amount of time. Didnt relize how quick i was going til i looked down at the speedo. Smooth car/motor indeed.

ChuckLandwehr - spot on! seems the audi's and most eurpean cars have a similar button for traffic broadcasts etc.

Also thanx for that guide Cruzida,
I found what my trac light was on for now:

19 - TRAC motor ON and OFF operation is higher than a predetermined number of times (accumulator pressure leakage)

52 - Brake fluid level warning switch ON

Also i believe the source of my clunking is the ball joint on the driver side front tire, i can move it and hear the clunk when rocking the tire by hand. I'll give toyota a ring and see if my trade discount for a set of balljoints isnt too exxy, otherwise let me know if you guys know a better source for celsior/ls400 ball joints.

    Cheers fella's

It should kickdown at least one gear without touching that button.
I've literally activated it maybe 3 times in a 2 years I've had the Celsior.

Hmm ok, well then this is all i can find that is simular sounding to my problem:
    http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/me...tml?1138342713

So once the TRC light is on the willingness to downshift is reduced.

Must check out this 19 - TRAC motor ON and OFF operation is higher than a predetermined number of times (accumulator pressure leakage) issue to fix it.

wells gents, after the big debate it looks like im going for the celsior!

the right car came up at the right time for the right price, so i collected my funds and im going to go n pay n pick it up tommorrow.

thanks for ally our advice and everything, will post some pics when i get a chance to take them.

now my next question is...... Has anyone ever gone above and beyond in the Celsior with sterio systems?

    What can fit
    what cant
many troubles with wireing, pulling appart old wiring.
fitting of speakers sizes, is this held back by anything?

    cheers

Buy a mounting kit from eBay USA and it will look pretty much factory.
You can get single and double DIN ones.
