actually pac junior might be in the drivers seat if all works out but all the planets have to line up in right order before something will happen so not 100% committed yet until we see what we are working with

Love to but I'd rather be part of the celica team. Not batting for the other side.

There is a practice to set an ideal lap pace, yeah? it's not about the fastest lap time but the most consistent lap times?

    Cheers

Correct! Saturday is the qualifying round where each car on our team has to do two things -

    a) Be capable of running laps under 2''05 (will need to check the new regs when they come out though)
    b) Clock up at least 10-15 laps to get used to the track on the day and be able to nominate a time

You nominate a time that you can do consistantly and (ideally never go quicker than). You can be one second slower and the lap will still count, but if you go faster than the nominated time the lap doesnt count towards our lap tally.

Did I read that correct, so if you run 2 seconds slower than your nominated time, your lap doesn't count?

Whats Winton like for overtaking? I know at WP you can have some pretty slow laps when stuck behind others as there is limited passing areas.. That'd screw with your nominated times.

We'll need to check what the regs are this year when they come out, but I THINK Adam's right. A bonus factor is applied if you hit your time exactly. The lap still counts if you're a second(or two - I cant remember) slower. Or maybe it still counts if you're slower but the bonus correction is not applied. This is definitely why we need to go over the regs and know them inside out.

It's not bad. There's a real mix of cars there. Three nice straight sections and most people with let you pass if you are quicker than them.

Passing opportunities are in quite a few places and I only ever get held up once or twice.

Overtaking is easy at Winton, there are heaps of opportunities, slower cars (you) are instructed to move out of the way of faster cars (us - LOL). Remember though that this is not a race.

    How timing works:

If you nominate 1:50, and you do laps at 1:50 to 1:50:99999, you get 2 laps for every lap you do

If you drop under 1:50, say 1:48 you lose a lap off your score

If you go over 1:50, say 1:52 or 1:53 for example, then you only get one lap, I don't believe there is a penalty for going too slow, but I wll check and come back to you.

The only mention I can read is that of 2:05 being an issue.

Running race chrono in each car would give you an idea if you are doing the right times.. Or a 2way or something so someone timing can tell you to slow down or speed up?

It would... but timing of any kind in the car is not allowed.

Though there is always teams "alleged" to be running stuff.
