ummm....not sure if there's more than one way to do it but i'd put the lower timing belt cover back on along with the crank pulley, line the mark on the pulley with TDC on the cover and then check the cams wheels are lined up......
I am a little paranoid about this, but I assume this is how the OEM marks are meant to line up.

Cams are fine... whats the crank pulley lined up with? I normally line the keyway up with a rib on the block
I am the sun
It looks correct provided that there is no slack on the right hand side of the belt (turbo side), but as stated when the tensioner is back in slip the lower cover on and check that the crank is at TDC and the cams are still in the same position they were in the top 2 pics.
If so then its fine.
cheers

Hey mate, good to see you're playing with a real engine![]()

the -10deg is for your ign/dizzy timing. 0/TDC is for cam timing.Originally Posted by RobST162

fwiw: didn't use an OEM belt i matched the marks on the pulleys with marks on the front casting and the metal shell behind the cam pulleys.
plus I double checked thru observing the camshafts and having a very long screwdriver down spark plug #1 sitting on the piston to confirm it was TDC #1. After setting the belt tensioner, I wound the engine over 2 full revs and then re-checked the marks.
