hmmm, that doesn't sound right. When the clockspring 'fucks out', you will suddenly lose all 3 steering wheel functions, as they wont be getting any power. If they seperatly died over time, for example; no cruise control and airbag light on, but horn still works etc...
it may be something else

well to be honest i cant really remember in detail.. i remember that one day the horn stopped working.... but a few days before that the airbag light turned on.. then a while after that the cruise control didnt work.. .but having said that i dont remember whether i tried them before noticing a few days later...

ill check fuses first.. a translation would be awesome...

then if not that, ill get a new clockspring and replace that... hopefully it will be fixed then..

the only other thing i have to do is fix my tacho... it sits below 0 and only goes up to 2k...

fucking annoying..

I would say it is the clockspring, you proberly just didn't notice them all going at once.

hey... i know this is dragging this thread up but i need help..

i went to start fixing this crap last night..

the steerign wheel problem is not as i thought...

i took off the side cover etc... found the gear that was supposed to be worn and... its not that.. when i move the switch, fuck all happens.. there is no noise... the spring doesnt rotate... like the switch is broken.. but it works in and out...

so...its got me thinking electrical issues again...

i need an english translation of the celsior fuse box...
also need to know... does the switch have anything to do with the clockspring...

the car has only 120'000km's on it...legit.. i wouldnt think something like a clockspring would shit itself that soon..... (or actually im hoping)...

so please... anyone got an english translation of it...

Hey, had a massive win with my celsior last night..

sorted the electrical issues.. now car drives perfect, shifts fine, speedo works etc...

what a fkn cnut of a job... either way.. got carried away and also sorted out my steering wheel movement issues.... now everything works.. apart from the crap which relies on the clockspring.. ie.. horn, cruise, airbag....

im not sure exactly how the clockspring works, but im assuming...given that there are the same amount of prongs going out as there are in... there should be continuity between them???

can anyone confirm this? ie.. touch one of the outside prongs, there should be continuity to the same prong on the other side?

i tested this last night and got no continuity... so guessing the clockspring is well rooted...

so my next question... how the fuck do you remove it...

i have

removed airbag, removed steering wheel, pulled the clockspring off... but there is a wire coming from under the steering column.. (fat yellow wire) that conntects to the air bag via the clockspring..

on the airbag end there is a clip.. on the other end, there is no clip.. it seems to be hard wired into the clockspring itself...

any suggestions how to remove???

personally i dont want to trace the wire all the way through the car.. to wherever it leads to.. so.. is there a problem with cutting the wires, then reconnecting wires from a new clock spring.. its just 2 wires...

didnt work...

it was a couple of wires, from one of the plugs...the top orange one... must have been loose in the plug and pulled out of the back when i unplugged it.. in trying to manouver the dash out, they got pulled into the plastic/tape covering the loom...

i couldnt see them, and not being familiar with the loom i didnt notice that any were missing.... i figured after testing everything else i would check the plugs themselves when i saw a little bit of wire poking out... cut the tape back a little and found some wires loose... pulled them back through... we guessed which one goes where judging by their location in the loom... got it right it seems...

then we cut all of them back (after taking photos and marking them)

my stepdad is an electrical engineer.. he wired them all properly into the back of the plug ensuring that they dont come loose again...he loves fiddly shit like that.. i hate it with a passion..

it looked like the plug was messed with before...

any advice on how to remove the clockspring.. or where the wire leads to??

Nope, the only clockspring I've seen is an MA70 one, and although I didn't pull it off, it looked pretty basic.

yeah it does... taking it off is ok.. but it hangs there by the two wires leading to the airbag..

i seriously cant be arsed tracing the wire through the car... i reckon ill just cut em when i get a new clockspring..
