    Default Wheel fitment issues hELP

AFter fitting up one of the front wheels. as a test fit with an ms65 hub, this is the result.

Just as i suspected about 25mm out due to the rack and pinion conversion plus ms65 hubs. any ideas how this little delemma can be solved....

There has already been the idea mentioned to use the Xa60 power steering lower control arms which are shorter by about 20mm bringin the track back to approx standard. hopefully bring the wheel back enough for guard rolling to fix the problem. In saying that no one has actually done this due to camber issues, and possible steering issues with the ke70 rack and pinion conversion.

    Any help/solutions would be appreciated

you may be able to get away with some Guard rolling, if that fails you might have to find some flares to stick on or weld some on.

    EDIT

Just had a look at some pics of my AE71 and my wheels stuck out more than yours, I rolled my guards and they fit fine now.

How wide is the rim and what size tyre do you intend to run? Surprising the clearance you can gain with a bit of guard rolling though.

It isn't the length of the RA6x/SA63 PS arms that may help you, it is the offset ball joint...

    See pics

    xZ1x/MA61 vs RA6x/SA63 PS.

xZ1x/MA61 is the longer arm in the images.

You can see that the RA6x/SA63 PS arms are offest ~10mm, and will also give a little bit of extra castor. Steering will also be quicker.

The RA6x/SA63 PS arm ball joint hole needs to be reamed to fit xZ1x/MA61 balljoints as RA6x/SA63 balljoints are smaller than xZ1x/MA61.

camber tops would be the first place id start.
then roll the guards and have them "pumped" at the same time.
a set of RCA's can bring your wheels in slightly depending on how thick they are but do that after the brake upgrade to make sure you have clearance.
id also have the tyres streched lightly on the rim, if their 17x8 then run a 205/40x17 or alternativly a 225/35x17 (id go the 205).

Wilbo, any way of doing bumpsteeer calcs without having to set them up on the car first only to find out it wont work? it should reduce the scrub radius and increase lock but it could have other nasty affects at the same time.

the AE86 P/S steering arms have a similar offset to those above but i dont thik they will allow you to run thick RCA's with the R33 upgrade as the LCA and disc may hit.

    cheers

I never got around to calcing ackerman and bump steer changes

And I don't know of an easy way to do either unfortunately...!

I can do a bit of a 'hand waving' and say that it shouldn't be 'that' bad, as I think RA6x/SA63 non PS arms are 'around' the same length as xZ1x/MA61. If Toyota did it from factory it would have to be tolerable are my thoughts.

However I've also got no idea how far back the rack is offset from the arms in this case, which has a decent effect.

Also Non PS RA6x/SA63 arms might also be worth looking at if one finds bump steer probs, but my gut tells me it should be OK.

And if AE86 PS are also offset in the same fashion then they are also worth looking at

    Also rims are 17x8 +5

How did you R&P conversion change the track?? What camber (at stationary ride height) do you have at the moment?? If you haven't got enough -tve camber atm, then decreasing your track will have dire consequences and will give you some lovely +tve camber. This would then require camber tops.

Have you done your steering calculations yet?? If you haven't then it's back to the drawing board before you go spending more money, and cutting things up unnecessarily.

What type of disk did you use?? Is it a hat type, or the OEM type that bolts to the back of your hub?? If it is a hat type, then changing that out to a behind hub type could reduce your troubles down to a negligible level. What are the legalities in WA with respect to changing the track of the vehicle??

What offset are the wheels?? A more FWD offset rim will help you with this problem too.

The epic awesomness of the wheels is why he wants to get them to fit

And I said it in my post, they are 17x8" +5

Of course homo offset will help them fit Not really an option tho!

Right, ive used my old fashin method of pumping the guards..yes it worked awesome!!!
I removed the strut, used a bottle jack and an old soccer ball and some blocks of wood and i got 13mm stretch out of it without damaging anything
So now the rim sits outside the guard by exactly 10mm
    No too bad...im getting there!
