The latest update on the RA60 rallycar saga: we've conveniently got a 1UZ just lying around, and in absence of anyone wanting to buy it, and for the 'why the hell not' factor, it's being sized up for the RA60. Next problem is a manual box. I take it there aren't any that will bolt up, but we do have a W58. CRT do a bellhousing...is it any good? Also, what clutch, flywheel, pressureplate combos does everyone run for these? Googled a bit, and searched the old site, but didn't seem to be much info out there...

i think to flywheel is a custom job, so you get it made to fit a suitable pressure plate(large!).
I thought you figured out a stock Toyota flywheel that fit perfectly?

Apparently a 3SGE/3SGTE flywheel fits, but the teeth on the ring-gear are backwards, so some mods have to be done to fix that before it can be used.Originally Posted by CrUZida

There is a kit in construction through that will mate the r154 to the 1UZ. This will retain the factory clutch , pressure plate and thrust bearing. The advantages of being able to get a clutch plate , slave cylinder anywhere to suit the pull type clutch and all the heavy duty clutches available to suit your desired power levels. So its a custom flywheel and bellhousing basically. Neil at Rush Imports is funding the prototype and will sell them after he fits the first one to his Soarer. Price hasn't been released yet, but he is due to get the first one in the next couple of weeks.

No, Neil of Rush Imports is doing a kit, getting his own bellhousings made.
As for the 3SGTE flywheel
IT DOESN'T BOLT ON AND SHOULD NOT BE USED
The bolts holes are INCORRECT and require redrilling if you are that was inclinded.
Redrilling flywheels is bad mmkay.
(last comment wasn't pointed at you MWP, but people who think its ok to do so)

Yeah, everywhere you read says IT FITS IT FITS.
And then you see some pictures of people who have used one, and its been redrilled.
A typical USA-born incorrect fact.

The mammoth 2UZ flywheel obviously fits, but isn't there a US manual Camry engine with a flywheel that bolts on with no mods? I vaguely remember reading about it some time ago.

There is a place in NZ that makes a plate that allows a W series box to bolt to the auto bellhousing, will try to find more details. Think they make the flywheels too.
