Haha, that's my motto. And if I really get stuck, it's time to make that change to a Virgin card and dump whatever I can't pay onto 6 months interest free to stabilise everything

i try not to live on credit if i can

i was a bit silly in my late teens and went overboard on credit and yeah, well i learnt my lesson. its so easy to spend money... but its so much easier to spend someone elses

now im at the point where my expenses / repayments balance out my paypacket and dont leave a lot of room after... dont want to go past that line where i start going into the red

Well, let me put it this way.

    You earn 40k a year.
You take 2 weeks off work
You get paid for those 2 weeks.
    Thats $1500.

    There are 2 of you.

Thats $3000 (if you go 50:50)

I'm budgeting $3000 for the whole trip.
Giving me a shade over $1800 for fuel, and $1000 for other things.

Now, if you don't get paid for holidays, you are screwed.

u get paid for the holidays yes..but the costs dont disappear just because you go on holidays

    rent 2 weeks - 680
    car loan component 2 weeks - 305
    mobile bill (2wks) - 25
    internet bill (2wks) - 35
    telstra bill (2wks) - 15
    alinta bill (2wks) - 30
    synergy bill (2wks) - 40

theres $1130 of that $1500 gone already.. and lets assume that $1500 is pretax... its about $1290ish by the time the government gets their ugly hands on it.. leaves me with umm... $150 to make it to sydney and back? not fair
