yeah i couldnt find anything on net about a 5spd one, and all the ones iv been in were 4s....

that aside, a 246 box would still suit what he wants.

btw oldcorollas, your rep count is getting silly

I'm only going on what I had read somewhere. Can't remember where & I can't vouch for how accurate.

If they are the same, then this ST215 auto box I've found would be perfect.

BTW, OC, that ebay link is to the same place I bought my car from. Pretty sure I've sat in that car.

    well, you obviously read wrong
the catalogue (PN0011-0508) also only has 4 speed, for all models

since there are no links on the net, or in the original toyota catalogues, for a 5 speed auto for ST246 (or 215 for that matter)
you would have to conclude there is no 5 speed?

I've had a look too... ST246 has only 4 speed auto transmissions.

Considering that I haven't been able to find any ST246 boxes, & only managed to find one ST215 box, for the purposed of this thread, its a bit of a moot point as to how many speeds they have.
To be honest, I'm not interested either way. I don't have one & don't want one.

Consider the SXA11 RAV4 auto gearbox and transfer.

hmmm i think the rav has the transfer mounted lower to cater for the ravs ground clearance, not sure but would pay to keep that in mind when checking one out.
however i would say the rav one would be too weak. they are not bullet proof behind the 3sfe as it is

    Hi All,

Just to cover a few things in this thread :

    - never been an auto box available for any Celica GT4 (ST165, 185 or 205)

    - try japimports.com.au for a Caldina halfcut or box

    - the same Caldina ST215W (GTT) auto box is used in the ACA21R RAV4 (but it's not the exact same part number, so there may be some slight differences, may just in ratios etc.)

    - the manual Caldina GTT uses a E150F box, same as the ST185 (which probably means the E151F or E154F should be a drop-in as well)

    - the ST246W Caldina uses the same (4sp) auto box as the ST215W (but it's not the exact same part number as that used in either the ST215W or ACA21R)

    Cheers, Al

I believe that the bellhousing for the Rav4 2.4L engine (don't know code) is different to the 3S (late model Rav boxes don't fit to earlier models)

It may share the same gearbox code, but the internals of the ST215 box match those of the ST205. Well at least mine does. And I have been informed by a gearbox expert (I'm trying to organise a taller final drive for mine) that ST185 internals will not match upto ST215 internals.
