oh yeah I forgot to mention that bit. I found a place today called competition engines that does 4 rods for $50. I will most likely send it them to get it done soon.

    Sounds like a good price!
Im a little concerned about the head studs in my setup. I have lifted the head off the block when i was using std head bolts (30psi) I no the Arp jobies are better quality and do not taper down from 10mm - 8.5mm like std bolts ( they actually taper out about 1mm) But im still concerned i should have tapped the block and went 12mm or 7/16 or something like that!
If anyone uses arp studs and serious boost let me no what you think of em.

Thanks for the help....I didn't know that the rods have to be resized..why is that?

This is a really noob question, but are head studs and head bolts the same thing?

are stock bolts "torque to yield" ? that would explain the taper.... did you reuse them?

ARP studs are pretty strong, esp compared to torque to yield bolts...
try em and see they should be ok as long as your block, head, and HG prep is correct...

    BOOSTBOY:
Rods need to be resized as When the studs are inserted ( pressed) into rod it can alter there shape ( slightly) + They usually have diff torque settings for the bolt/studs and this can also alter the shape of the rod and end cap. so it is rec to have them resized.

Old corollas: Yeah the bolts were torque to yeild and were re-used. I know this is part of my prob but im sure it would have happened even if the bolts were new. I have found a bloke who runs same boost as me and he actually uses ARP studs from a holden 308 ( tapped block of course) I dont thinl the std ARP studs will give me any greif BUT time will tell!!

So what is involved in resizing them? What do they actually have to do? Does it weaken the rod at all?

they grind a small amount off the face of the cap to make it like an oval shape where it colts to the big end and then they "re-round it", I would think that they take such a small amount of material off that it wouldnt weaken it.
