duly noted perhaps we are all quick to jump on the "beat the newbie" bandwagon
but i guess the stupid threads bring out the keyboard warrior in all of us, even those with godly superiority
"what is some random plastic cover crap there for" is a bti different to "how do i dose like tsutsutsu OMG f0oli sick brew"
it might be a bit basic, but even beginners should be encouraged.. to a point..
thye best way to put a quick end to "simple" threads is..... to give a simple and concise answer.. and then get it locked
it looks really bad when people who have been around for a while, start ripping into others in the tech section.. warranted or not, it reflects badly on the club.
if you (general you) are offended by the simplicity (or stupidity) of any thread, report it, and ask for it to be locked or deleted.. rather than making smartarse comments...

Being somewhat back to n00b status myself (been away for about 5 years - since the Toyota-Mods mailinglist days really, where a few Toymods founders used to hang out as well) I can relate to wanting to know "what is it for" about everything... but also to the "senior members" not wanting to restate the (to them) obvious because it tends to drown out the interesting *new* (to them) stuff.
I guess I'd say put stuff like this in a general/maintenance section (maybe current general car talk section) and leave tech/conversions for the higher level stuff. This kinda question really shouldn't be here.
Also - I'm kinda missing the old articles section... I've resorted to archive.org more than once, for stuff I was positive *used* to be there... a good faq/articles/wiki section helps a lot to keep away the "stupid" questions (well, maybe not this one... but some others). Or at least gives you an easy refer-then-lock point.
Feel free to flame if I missed the new version of the articles/faq section somehow(I don't mean the faq section within this forum, which is good, but maybe doesn't cover as much as it could...)
90% of "noobs" get treated nicely here. People who don't do searching or who don't take answers at face value AND those who make continually rhetoric/stupid threads aren't very well looked after.
The case of the later exists here.

Hi,
Was just a question, and was curious why it was only on one lead and not all, now I see nothing stupid about that.
And yes I agree I did post in the wrong section, so if somebody could move it to General Car Talk that would be good.
Abrasion reasons.
Why only on 1 lead? Probably because it's the one most worthwhile protecting. Debris severing one (or two) other leads won't disable the car.
