Did you try without the LED in series?

The LED and resistor in series will reduce the current flow to a level that won't make the injector operate / tick

Try without the LED if you haven't already!

Edit: There shouldn't any significant pressure in the return line... it is meant to be low pressure return flow to the fuel tank

    Cheers

it would be interesting to see if it is a stuck injector..when we cleaned them they were flowing fine on the test machine..the spray pattern was pretty much the same across all four and they all flowed roughly the same amount no matter what pressure and RPM we put through them.

Ok... we just did another test...

You are absolutely right about the LED... It won't fire the injector... here is what we did...

We pulled one of the 16v injectors, and we connected it up (Yes same plug) and we could definitly feel the clicking.

We then proceeded to wire up the 16v injector with the LED, and sure enough it didn't fire. He then basically removed the LED, and tested the injector, and that definitly caused the 16v injector to click...

we then proceeded to perform the same test on the 20v injector, and again, no clicking sound... totally dead.

We also checked the exhaust... there is definitly air movement through the engine, and hence, compression build up.

Damo101... Thanks for your contribution... U must be the guy performing the 16sc engine @ Warren's place, right...

In the past I've used a higher voltage (Via a power supply, but two 12V batteries in series to give 24V should also work) to supply a larger current to the injectors to get them to 'unstick'.

I simply applied 24V in short pulses (not constant -> to avoid heating up the injector solenoid winding and leading to failure). Until the injector ticked in the normal fashion

You might try this (At your own risk ... I take no responsibility for injector failure, I wouldn't expect it, but anyway ),

    SHE's ALIVE... SHE's ALIVE...

Basically, we realised the injectors were stuck... so we basically applied 12v (cycling continuously) on one injector and all of a sudden it started clicking... OK....

Did it to the second one... same... we fired it up... yes... but only running on 2cylinders.... OK...

We did it to the next 2 and voila... she's come to life, and fired right up. Could let it run for too long, as no exhaust....

Well... she's off to the exhaust shop soon, after I start cleaning up all the mess...

    Yeeeeeees... SHE'S ALIVE...

Thanks for all you help... an no, I wasn't daring enough to apply the 24v...

Hahahahaha... Yeah, I was hoping to do so, but defintly no can do... too much trouble fitting the old exhaust, as I would have to change the Headers too. Besides, got the Mr2 booked in for the exhaust on Tuesday mornign with Norm Butler exhaust.

But will definitly be putting up an update then... ;-)

hahahahahahahahaha.... Picky, Picky, Picky, Inpatient, Inpatient, Inpatient...

I called up the exhaust shop on Friday, and yes, the car was ready to be picked up, but alas, I had no time on friday, so it will be a monday morning job. Will be giving further updates then as I will be driving the car to work & Back, after pickup. A bit risky, but... Oh well.... I will be giving updates then.

With regards to driving experience, I did have the oportunity to drive up steep driveways, and the likes... A LOT MORE TORQUE than the old 16v... I remember the old engine used to strugle to get up the drive way of the workshop, where I had to put it in first and rev to about 3000RPMs and ride the clutch (Otherwise wheels spin)... now, 1500rpms and no requirement to ride the clutch.

But when I called the shop, they indicated that it has a nice deep note, as it's 2.5" all the way, with a custom mufler and a 2.5 High flow metal cat... Anyway... Pics will be following...

None the less... I find the clutch a bit spongy... but that could be because I've been spoilt with an Auto Forester for the last 6 months...

    Anyway... Updates to come...

    MIKE.
