    Wrong tailshaft angles can cause lots of NVH problems in cars.
    As can new tailshafts until the unis run in.

    I think this will have been the problem. With the box fouling the body it can get a little noisy inside.

    Cressid@ as your problem wasn't there originally and only started after towing I believe that your transmission mount may be on the way out. Perhaps the loads from towing have weakened the metal to rubber bonding allowing the box to twist more when it's under load. Spacing the crossmember down 2mm has given the box little more room to move, but the noise will probably return in time with a little more use. Check the box mount out and see if there is alot of play there.

    I have the same gearbox in my MX83 and even after heavily modding the tunnel with a 5lb lump hammer, and much swearing, I found that I still needed to space the crossmember 8mm off the body to provide adequate clearance.

    that explains it, i think!
    Will replace the mount if the noise come back.
    I am just glad it wasnt the box, it is unique for my car!
