you installed two different gearsticks incorrectly, and that made the car not go?
the engine didn't turn over cos the car was in gear, and cos th estick wasn7t put in right, you couldn't put it into nuetral

I assume you have a manual for your car?. if not, it is time to get one.

    anyway you should study.

edit: i thought wisdom was only from learning, not teaching?.. i never claimed to be wise, and i try to help people where possible, but people need to help themselves sometimes too. we all had to start somewhere...

very true but u i have learnt u r the one to come to for help when there is no other options as u know how to fix it

yeah so i used my grill to push my clutch in & the engine turned fine so it was the gearbox
then i read the post above & wiggled a screwdriver in place of the shifter until it worked

ive got 2 manuals but not proper toyotas & as i work for toyota ive looked through all my workshop manuals & nothing pre 1980- & the 2 manuals ive got even though ive read through them on several occasions dont really help in engine & gearboxs that have ben siting around for a while

now i have got something to work for when i finish my HSC, which with me is great motivation to study, i mean really great

    thx

get a Gregories, or an Intereurope or whatever, bu tget a manual that is for your car!

you can get original toyota manuals (yellow books, green books.. engine, chassis, gearbox, body, wiring etc) from ebay etc.
edit, like this T/2T engine manual for $12 on ebay (as much as i hate to link to egay)
    http://cgi.ebay.com/TOYOTA-CELICA-2T...QQcmdZViewItem

just take it as an example.

fwiw, when i first started out, i bought the KE series Yellowbooks form a mate that worked at toyota...
