Default ke 35 corolla wont start urgent help

My daily ke35 4k engined corolla is having starting problems, went to turn the car on it was kicking over then the battery went flat. Tried jump starting it still wouldnt kick over only this ticking noise..... as the battery was old and had got flat a few times before i bought a new one checked all the terminal connected still wont turn on, tried hitting the starter with a screwdriver made no difference.all i get is this tick noise...i feel it might be the starter motor??? If so its in a awkward place any tips anyone could give me on replacing it or could it be something else?

loud ticking from starter? or small ticking from relay?

if youneed to pull out starter, i HIGHLY recommend using a socket fromn the front, with a couple of extensions.. i forget how long, but so the ratchet is above the alternator.. make it MUSH measier to pull the bugger out..

remember to disconnect the cable first

    does it push start?

    Hey there mate...

sounds like the starter motor is gone... but they r a easy job on a k motor... takes about 30min to do...

what i do.. discon battery, undo bolts for starter motor ( all from the top ).. then undo the wire...

other possabilty is it may need a relay added to the starter... loosing power from key thru old wiring..

jump starting or push start first??

coz screwdriver across the starter should have sparks or something if it's seized?

if it is an auto, try running it through the gears with the key turned.... perhaps your park nuetral switch is mis adjusted/ not working...

OBVIOUSLY APPLY YOUR BRAKES WHILST DOING THIS.

if the park-nuetral safety switch is the problem, the wiring loom to the gearbox mounted plug can be disconnected and bridged to get you mobile. (on most cars)

    To push-start:

    1) Get 2 or 3 burly mates, and preferrably a slight downhill slope.
    2) Get in driver's seat
    3) Turn ignition key to ON (not START)
    4) Put into 2nd gear, clutch pedal in (ie clutch disengaged)
    5) Get burly mates to push car until you get to about 15km/h
    6) Ease out clutch so that it acts as a starter motor for the flywheel
    7) Once engine catches, clutch in again to prevent possible stalling
8a) Drive away, leaving burly mates to eat your dust and oil smoke OR
8b) Stop, leave engine running, open back doors and give burly mates a ride home and a cold one

oh wait i didn't see u've got a new battery.. is that right??

ticking noise could be because an earth isn't connected properly, ur batery has the wrong cca? (my car needed 660. but i replaced it with a 400 and had all sorts of weird electrical problems caused by this), or yea ur starter motor needs a relay or just needs replacing?
