you will have to measure what the maximum diameter is for the socket and what size head on the bolt because I dont have one of those heads around. After that yeah one last thing... wheres lanarkshire?

i should have just PM'd you
while there are experienced professionals that do this kind of thing i would just hate someone who didnt know what they were doing just jump straight in and start grinding things, especially when you have to consider their level of experience may be nil
people on here like good info and doesnt take long to accumulate a reputation if you know what your on about or can tell great yarn, at the moment it isnt entirely a reflection of the person sitting at the keyboard. this problem is being discussed in another thread and theyre considering changing it so that rep can only come from tech pages
take it with a grain of salt as your never likely to meet me and i'll hazard a guess if your hanging out with the likes of said professionals then you probably know a lot more about than i do anyway![]()
so sorry about that, in future i will just PM

no i didnt take it personally at all, just thought it was a tad harsh.
IF the clearance is as tight as it is on my gen3 head, then id probably not want to grind it down too much incase it splits the socket at the level i torque it down to.
having said that, anyone got a pic of gen1/2 and gen3 heads to comfirm if the gen3 has less room?
Minimax (made in Japan) and available in ebay.com.au from a guy in Melbourne has very thin wall sockets that might do the job. Minimax are very good quality but not often seen around although have been available in Oz for at least 30 years.
i just filed one down worked fine

A different brand or 3/8 drive socket and/or cut the socket and/or cut the head, do any 1 or all 3.
I think the main thing is that if the socket interferes with the head, its torque won't be accurate whenusing the friction torque method to tighten it.
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
