hey, i've just finished my 1ggte ra60 conversion and finally got the motor running.
problem is, it idles fine but as soon as you give it some throttle it almost stalls.
any help would be greatly appricitated.
i'll put a video up in a sec if i can.
thanks.
that could be an AFM issue. . . gross overfuelling possibly as mine had a similar issue.
did the prob exist before u did the conversion?

it used to run fine in the last car, although the last time we started it it did run pretty rough and it get it to idle at mate had to open the AFM flap with his finger.
in the car now, you can get it to rev it you put your hand over the AFM intake, it hurts your hand after a while but it revs quite a bit better.
should i source out another AFM?
just received some more info.
the mechanic who has worked on it a bit says he thinks its a fuel problem, thats all the info i got so far.
any ideas?
please tell me you've checked EVERY SINGLE SECTION of the intercooler piping ??
me and a mate did check, but maybe not as thoroughly as you are suggesting. i will have a closer look.
yeah by blocking the afm your reducing the airflow .. but it must still be getting air from
somewhere.. which as cofFEE points out piping is the most obvious point.

yeah i thought it might be something like that.
how big does the leak have to be to make a difference?
thanks for your help so far guys.![]()
mechanic thinks its fuel pressure, he says the (fuel)lines might be round the wrong way and also to put more petrol in the tank. im not to sure. does this sound right.
i will still definately check all the intercooler piping.
vac leak...
if its not that...its air not being metred right..
get a map version![]()

Punctuation is the difference between 'I helped my Uncle Jack off his horse' and 'I helped my uncle jack off his horse.'
yer the lines are the wrong way you better swap them over
but then if you do that it wont run at all
whos yr fukin mechanic
get a fuel press gauge easy to check then
check for air leaks
ive got a 1ggte to look at with similar prob in afew weeks
maybe htey are just a shit engine hehehehe
if its runnin and its blowing black smoke then its either an air leak of fuk air flow
clean the spark plugs before testing cause if they are fouled up already then no matter what you play with it will still run shit
when tryin to diagnose fuel probs its best to start with a new set of plugs
you might go thru afew sets but thats normal
first see if anyone else in adelaide can lend u an AFM to switch out with urs to eliminate that theory. Check those vac hoses REAL good. . . and any small hose that connects to the intake manifold - follow them and check them too. Get fuel pressure tested - cheap by mechanics standards. If its fuel pressure then check the FPR. If thats ok then . . . well im not sure. Generally i find with these cars and motors most of the probs are electrical. . . so uhh yeah.
Oh wait. . . one more thing . . check all the wires going to the ecu - the connections to both the sensors and the ECU and make sure these are in good nick coz in a 20year old wiring harness these things can deteriorate. Keep us updated on ur progress.

car doesn't run any differntly with the AFM unplugged. does the indicate bad wiring or bad afm? fuel lines are sorted. leaks checked as best i can.
ok plug the AFM in and reset the computer. Check all the connections going to and from the AFM.
When u have the AFM off, does it run better if u have the hose partially covered btw?
Im pretty sure this is an electrical issue - more than likely in the wiring not the AFM itself.
go over that loom again and all the connectors - then make sure ur AFM is properly connected and reset that computer n have another go.
