If it wont go into reverse the transmission was probably incorrectly assembled and it will need to be done properly.
Thanks for the info![]()
Now i like to trie another thing![]()
If we will make numbers of things that can be wrong that make the reverse don't work.
Like this.
1: The Ecu give the solenoids no pulse because a wire is loose
2: Something wrong with a solenoid.
3: blabla bla
4: 5: 6: 7:
This kind of stuff so it is easier for us to trie to find one of this things that can be wrongAnd others to check out if they have the same fault.
If it wont go into reverse the transmission was probably incorrectly assembled and it will need to be done properly.
Jealousy is a curse
The fact that the auto works when the solenoid plug is unplugged points to an electrical issue...Originally Posted by madmont
1) Check your wiring:
--> Do you have +12V at the R pin on the engine ECU when the shifter is in the R position? (And the other positions such as L & 2...)
2) Check your wiring:
--> See above
Another link for more information for you... (so you can continue to avoid checking the voltage at the ECU pin for a longer period of time?)
Lexus GS300 Repair Manual RM406.zip
Note this is USA, so some things are slightly different...i.e. the auto has a shift cable... but there is a lot of info there that should be able to help... in particular pages 29 & 49 and of "Automatic Transmission"

I avoid using wire colors, they change too much.
I suggest that you trace back from the plug on the auto to your 'cut' wires with a multimeter.
The below diagram should help.

Does the dash always say it is in D?
Anyway, the dash is a SEPARATE issue to the gearbox.
I've suggested how to fix the gearbox problem three? times now in different manners...have you done / checked what I've (and others) have suggested?
If not my care factor is going out the window

So you are suggesting to me that Toyota put the D, 2, L and NSW pins on the ECU simply to take up the extra space?
