Well even though the model are slightly different, I have recently fitted a brand new 2jzgte water pump to my 1jzgte soarer. No problems what so ever, it was a straight fit.
Only difference I see is that I used genuine Toyota parts.
Hi all,
I ordered in an after market 2JZ-gte water pump to ditch my 1JZ one, but when I lined the supplied water pump gasket over the spare aristo 2jz hydro pump they were different around the impeller.
Do I need the rear housing (although a search on tells me no)?
Is the aristo 2jz hydro water pump different to the 1j?
or have I been sent the wrong water pump?
Cheers!

Yeah I'm thinking that I may have a GE pump instead as the mount points that line up with the front of the engine appear to be correct but the ones that goes around the impeller are off. Also the impeller seams quite a bit smaller then 2JZ-GTE Hydro pump I'm comparing it too.
Yah for buying shit OS over the net. Was cheap. May turn out to be twice as expensive.
Anyone have a comparison of the gte to ge pumps? pwease![]()
When I did mine I used a genuine pump that came with the rear housing, bolted up perfectly.
The rear housings are different, hydro to normal pump.
You will need the rear housing to suit a non hydro pump.

These pics I took during my conversion from Hydraulic to Standard may help you Identify.
Not sure how "cheap" you got yours for, but from Toyota Australia, retail is around $160.00 complete. (trying to find the invoice for the trade price)

Shit looks like I may have a gte but just no rear housing. Thanx for thos picks sleeper, the one of the front of the engine appears to be right on the block but the ones that I think are wrong are the ones that goto the rear housing.
Dam, seller has offered to take it back and refund but it cost nearly as much to ship it as it did to buy it lol!
Anyone want a 2J water pump minus the rear housing?
What you need is this...
The part number is there, might as well see if they are cheap from toyota?
Cheers

Used to goto brighton, but quite frankly they are a pack of see you next tuesdays. Oakleigh were really helpful last time, so I'll give them another bash.
Yeah I've heard good things about Oakleigh, Brighton I've never had any dealings with. A good one for those out east would be Nunawading, good buch of blokes that will go the extra mile, if your serious.

As I said, the WHOLE pump and o-ring and gasket is about $160.00
(less for trade)
If you can't get any satisfaction from your dealer, let me know and I will go down to my local dealer and get it for you.

Thanx for the offer, but a mate locally has a spare one. Ironically its off the spare engine that I sold him not too long ago! Doh!
Seriously thanx for all the help guys! When I did a search there was something mentioned about the rear housing but no proper answer (well that I found), so hopefully this thread will be of some use for others that go this route.
I bought this one at a swap meet, Anyone got any clues as to which J series it's from?
