I would just use the 81.5mm oer size ones. I'm sure 82mm would be fine but 0.5mm isnt really goan change much at all!

TRD 0.8mm steel head gasket is what I run.

Boring a 4a to 82mm is asking for split bores.

What bore size are you using bazda?
Have you split any bores yet? ..... you have been running some decent boost for a while now ... 27psi isnt it?

I ask because i have thought of going .5 OS on the next engine but im not too ure i want to because of the boost i run and the possibility of splitting the bore in a std block let alone one that has been bored .5mm over.

The 7a block mabe different though. Mabe it has a thicker bore wall than the 4a and doesnt suffer from bore issues and high boost.

Hey mate, long time no chat eh..

I ran std size bores for about 1.3 years, pistons had massive clearances! so decided to change the pistons and went to 81.5mm.
Its been fine since, I've done about 7 drag meetings since then I usually get about 5-10 runs per meeting and I used 25-30psi depending on track conditions.
And I've done 3 track days around pukekohe raceway on 16-19psi. I cant use any more on the circuit cos I cant keep it straight without power steering and my PS belt keeps flicking off haha.

Hows ur car coming along? cracked the 300kw mark???

ok well Im pretty sure this engine is on its orginal set of pistons and there is no lip at the top of the cylinders maybe Ill try and keep the original bore diameter.

So baz if i use the blacktop head what genuine parts do I need do I use my 4AGZE black and crank?

Thats easy. genuine 4agze pistons rings and gudgens.
4agze rods, you want the early model ones.

crank, all the cranks are good, BT, ST, 4agze, red top.

No extra effort. If you were planning on buying performance rods... might as well go 7A. Its really as simple as that.

Even if you plan on buying a full blacktop, just sell the complete shortblock, then buy a 7A complete shortblock, then start your build up the same way as you would have.

gearbox bolts up fine, so does starter motor.
PS only bolts to 2 points, you will need to weld up some sort of bracket to beable to bolt to a 3rd supporting point or it wont be stable.
Alternator bolts up, but you will ned to mod the top bracket that holds it as the block is around 15mm higher so the bracket is 15mm higher as its bolted to the head.
    Engine mounts are sweet.

The axle bearing holder bracket will need a point in the block to be tapped out, the boss is there but there is no hole.

Hmmm a fair bit of work then I see Bazda I mean I have done tonnes to the car already how much benefit have you seen from the 1.8 litre conversion? Do you think in the ae82 with the lighter weight its warranted?

I have the flow rates for the std 16v small port head and a std blacktop head.

    Blacktop:
    Inlet - 210CFM
    Exhaust - 140CFM

    Smallport:
    Inlet - 185CFM
    Exhaust - 115CFM

    Both with valve lift 0.500
You wouldn't happen to have the flow rates for a bigport and/or silvertop would you?
