Or get an Australian cruise control ecu. History shows that they don't have limits.
JCMO's cruise control thread reminded me that I'd like to look into my cruise control speed limit.
The max speed that the cruise control can be set to is 110kph...
I'd like to be able to set it higher than that for use on private (unrestricted) property...
Has anyone looked into it?!
My initial thoughts are that the speed control ECU is pretty dumb, so I might be able to simply divide the spd pulses that go to the speed control ECU by say half to give myself a 220kph max cruise control setting...
But this solution introduces some other issues....
>>I think the cruise has a minimum speed that you can set... this 'solution' would increase that speed (by 2 if I divide the speed pulses by half).
>>My z12 has a "auto set" rotary switch, that can be used to select the speed you want without driving up to the speed and going set.... so if you want to go at 60, you can do it easily. I'd have to remake the markings on the front of the rotary switch with the values twice as large, and that'd mean that it'd have autosets upto 200kph....![]()
A better option would be to remove a link / add a link in the speed control ECU if anyone knows about that?
Cheers

Or maybe compare the internals of an Aussie cruise ECU and yours - it might be some very minor difference which restricts the speed.
You can pull my cruise ECU apart if you like, it doesn't work anyway.

Oh really?! Didn't realise that Aus MA61's didn't have a speed limit...
Norbies, will gee up to grab you speed control ECUZanks!

Well, they may, I've never tested it, but the Aussie LS400's don't, and my dads Prado didn't (well, didn't stop at 108 like the jap ones do).

I borrowed Norbies cruise control ECU from his MA61...
Not really going to be that easy I'm afraid. Due to the fact that the MZ12 has the controls for the cruise on the steering wheel, and also the autoset dial the interface to the cruise is different... (that's my belief currently, without further investigation).
The cruise boxes themselves are quite different...
Also interesting are the 'CRT' links on the GZ10 cruise ECU. I wonder what the difference / affect of the jumpers is?! I'll have to pull my MZ12 one out and check it! (I would expect it to have the CRT resistors fitted due to the multivision)
Due to the ever, super-critical Mos, I have reviewed my ESD precautions. I hope you find the revised images acceptable Mos. I agree carpet wasn't a good choice, regardless of the high humidity (it was raining), and the conformal coating.

Carpet is probably not the best surface for relatively sensitive electronic devices![]()

i get exactly 108kph max limit.
the absolute minimum limit is 35 however if the speed ever drops below that then cruise cuts out.
i wouldnt want anymore then 128kph.... there are plenty of 110kph speed zones around here.
youd need to remove something like 1 every 10 pulses if thats possible

take a picture of the main borad inside the box and i or someone should be able to tell you wether you cut a wire or use a jumper to cancel out the limit

I did have a picture of the board inside the box, but it demonstrated some average ESD practises so I removed itOriginally Posted by ripfast
However there is no obvious places for jumpers or wire links.
