    Default Overfilled Transmission Fluid

    Hello,

I read on that an overfilled transmission fluid could cause transmission failuire. Why would this happen?

Wouldn't the excess fluid just spill out of the filler/dipstick tube when warm?

    Thanks.

Fluid will generally spill out of the disptick tube / breather. Some trans have locking dipstick & small breather, you run the risk of pressurising the sump & blowing out a seal.

Leaking transmission fluid can spill on to the exhaust & cause a fire.

I've also seen overfilled transmissions aerate the fluid, which will do damage.
500ml or so shouldn't matter though.

    Cheers
    Phil
