The brand was Hypatec, hypereutectic pistons are cast alumininium, but have 16% silicon content. This makes them stronger, and also more resistant to heat and thermal expansion which means you can nice tight clearences. However, hypereutectic pistons though harder, are also more brittle and don't take well to lean condtions and engine knocking. So if you are going use them you need to make sure you your tune is spot on
Heres a useful thread http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2501
I run an engine shop & can help with parts/reco units if needed. email direct [email protected]. you need to get professional advice if you want it right. just shaving the head rarely fixes 7M's. you need to get the head tested for hardness before spending ANY $ on it all. they go soft from repeated overheating and thats why they dont hold their bolt tension & gaskets let go. fitting a metal head gasket to a soft head wont help. if you want to use a metal gasket, then the block really should be faced. only the better shops can do this properly for metal gaskets. I just finished a 7M that cost the owner $3600--it was stuffed when i got it. Its real easy to spend $2500 on a significant engine job. The extra cost for quality parts is small in the scheme of things.
