    Default Halfcut compression test numbers

    Hi all,

Im looking at buying a 1UZ halfcut (92,000 on the dash odo).
I had the guy selling it do a compression test and this is what he reported:

    cyl1 - 180
    cyl2 - 155
    cyl3 - 155
    cyl4 - 145
    cyl5 - 140
    cyl6 - 145
    cyl7 - 150
    cyl8 - 155

This is an engine that hasnt be run in who knows how long, and the test was done cold.

    Opinions?

I've seen some pretty average compression tests out of engines that haven't been run in a long time...I know this is vague and sweeping, just hoping to give you some more info!

But those figures look good to me...the are even across the cyls, with a bit of a question mark over Cyl 1 being higher...

    Cheers

tap the buckets to free them up and do a leakdown test on it, that will tell you more about condition.

If it is possible to start the engine, run it for a few minutes and once warm give it a few revs then re-test, a leakdown test is better.

I tested a 1j 2 weeks ago that was in a cut, 3 of the pots had between 30 - 50 psi, after we ran it for 10 minuted, we retested, all pots then measured between 190 - 195psi ;-)

Ill push them to see if we can get it running... but i have an idea they wont
They will give me a warranty on it.
