    Default increasing boost

    hi all im just wondering wot is the easiest way to up the boost on a turbo without needing a boost gauge??

    its a IHI turbo (on my 2.2l turbo diesel) not sure of the specs though and just wanting to increase the boost a little bit

    any help or info is greatly appreciated

    You don't need a gauge to wind the boost up, you just need it to make sure you don't turn it up too far. Do you know how the boost is controlled and kept at the current level? Because it's more a matter of letting it make more boost, raising the point at which it's limited. Make sure you have a good understanding of the way turbocharged systems build, and control, boost, and the potential damage you can do, before you just wind it up too far.

    my bad i ment boost controller not boost gauge

    i need to know how to actually increase the boost that the turbo is making

    i know how turbo engines work nd are built etc ive also worked on them b4 being a mechanic

    im just not sure how u actually increase the boost without using a boost controller.... my mate at work said you short the hose going from the wastegate back into the into but yea im not sure

    Why is a boost controller not a good way to do it?

    The ball and spring type are cheap...

    I'd also recommend a boost gauge when playing with your boost levels

    im to tight ass atm to get a boost controllet will get one eventually though

    ball/spring/bleed type boost controllers can be had in the vicinity of $30 to $40... Not a large sum of money. Unless your thinking electronic boost controllers.. then yes they are rather expensive but probably not necessary for your needs.

    yea im planning on getting one i just virtually have no money atm due to a fone bill lol

    so will get one shortly

    in the mean time id like to increase it a little bit to try and get sum more power out of it not that ill get a great deal but still

    Maybe hold off on the boost until you've paid the phone bill and then can afford the boost controller? You know, do it properly.

    fone bills paid i just get paid fortnightly so it took all my money

    that one wilbo666 found on ebay looks pretty good cept how do u tell wot boost it should be running or do u just turn it and then drive see wot boost it make (on boost gauge) and adjust from there?

    u could use a low tension spring for a couple more pound of boost
