A competent machine shop should be able to cut off and rethread your struts.

Only ones that I have seen shortened and rewelded were being converted to coilover, the join was inside the threaded sleeve that was going to be put on so reinforced.

would be cheaper than getting them professionaly welded right?

    EDIT
i just realised either way i would have to move the lower spring retainer casue thats whats causing the be too long more than the tube

Maybe a bit cheaper, better finished product would be the main difference I recon with no joins.

A bit of stuffing around to set up though, would need to grip base of strut in chuck and support end in steady.

Ok, just curious now, on other peoples upgrades do the calipers protrude infront of the hub face?
I have had to use a 3mm spacer to get my wheels to clear the front of the caliper....

i've just been working on my baby, was about to swap the booster and master cyclinder from the GA70 for the stock ones, although now it appears that the supra booster is much too large, i'm certain i remember reading once upon a time that the GA booster and master cyclinder were a straight bolt up??? now i suspect that it was just the master cyclinder and not the booster

anyone care to fill me in?

The stock booster wouldnt be overly bad, but the ultimate is unboosted brakes... as i found out yesterday.

The ideal MC for unboosted (in my opinion) is a 240K master, its 7/8th and the pedal feel is beautiful.

This is what it looks like in the bay:

    and mocked up

and im just running a small rosejoint to secure the rod in place

Overall i think that the unboosted setup works far far far better than any other car ive driven with boosted brakes, its much more consistent and steady, with beautiful feedback.
