lots of models have the "stronger" stub axles. depends what brakes you want.

    RA23/28/40/60/65
    MX62/73
    XT130/ST141/RT142/RT132

all the above cars have the same stub axles....the strut dimensions differ a little throughout said models

yeh i know vl wheels are different pcd. but i got these for a real good price, so im willing to fork out the extra bit getting all fours converted to suit... but im not gonna go and do all that, if in the end the rims are the wrong offset. i might get a quote on changing the offset from simmons... if its gonna be to much, then the rims loose the appeal... ahahah

ive got a mate who does 4x4 lifts. i was talking to his bro about brakes and stuff, he said they might be able to get cheap bits and peices. so im gonna talk to him about getting the hilux 4pots. if he can get them cheaper, ill grab a bunch?

Ok I'll probably be out of line here but if your brakes are doing the job there supposed to do then why upgrade?Ok I understand if you are using your car as a street/strip or track thats fine but if they are only a daily driver most Toyota brake systems are more than adequate.I've owned and raced quite a few Toyotas and the brakes were only upgraded to either twin spot calipers and decent pads, all worked fine,I even had an old Crown wagon which had 4 wheel drums with booster and that stopped better than some of the ones I owned with discs.I'll probably get shot down on this one but hey if its doin the job leave it alone.
    Cheers Brett.

most of us are putting in 1GGTE.

    factory max power 60rwkw

    1GGTE - 140rwkw

not to mention i can name 2 1g's that are doing 220+

    hence the brake upgrade

the stock celica brakes are okay for 'granny-smooth-style' brakeing, but when you go to pull up from higher speeds (as the 1g helps you achieve ), they fade very quickly.

im thanking myself i have the 4spots on because one afternoon a cyclist decided he wanted to turn right through a round about (in front of me). i was only doing 60 but he was so short, he was hidden behind the traffic island hedge until the last second. when i smashed the brakes on, the car pulled up on a dime with SFA pedal effort . that kind of braking with stock brakes requires a very decent amount of effort(rubber hoses expanding etc.). and the more effort that is required, the more time it takes your leg musles to build the strength.

so for $500 worth of brakes, the mooron cyclist didnt get hurt!

Does anyone know of any performance style drum shoes to suite RA60 ? I havent had time to look but if anyone knows off the top of there head that would be great.

Not that alot of you (most) will like my plan, im putting in a RB20DET. Honestly its cos i picked it up cheap but then started to realise how well it works out in my car. Main reasons are the exhaust and intake are the right way round and also there are plenty of bits for the rb20. I will post pics when the motor starts to go in!

Yeah I am looking at upgrading the drums(well just putting new shoes in them and whatever else you do to drums to freshen them up). When and if I upgrade my fronts.

Guys, is any one running just a RA series booster and MC, i picked one up from pick-a-part the other day (its in amazing shape) out of a RA and i can see why you would bother with the MA70 MC the RA MC seems to be quite large, or am i just used to peewee Ta22?

if you run the hilux callipers, they require quiet a bit of fluid flow.

however you can decrease the rrequired pedal effort required by decreasing the mastercylinder bore size size.

so where do you draw the line??

from experience, everyone says a 1" bore is best...but you could always see how happy you are with the RA 15/16" (?) one

hey, anyone who has this on a ra23. wat offset rims do u run? and wat width tyres...
im gonna try and get my simmons re-set, so i wanna see how much i have to have them changed.
it may not be worth it though at 450 a corner, plus the original purchse cost, its almost better for me to get them from simmons direct, custom from the start
