what's a MZ10 ? - found it - it's a very old Soarer. No chance of Toyota having those gear sets available.

Mid 80s soarer. The diff C&P of an IS200 are the same as toyota IRS F series which were in MA61, MZ10, some RA65, some RT142...

Lots of choice in ratios there

Spent a day dpwn in Brisbane not long ago and went to all the diff shops in town. Nobody could source a ratio but all said it could be done if I found a set.

    Well, there's lots floating around

If you want an easy cross reference use the TRD LSD pricelist. Youre looking for cars that share a part number with SXE10 Altezza

^ what he said. F-series 7.5" gear sets fit the IS200. The IS300 are all 8".

You should be able to source a 3.42 or 3.58 gear set out of a 2wd toyota pickup F-series rear diff.

I've confirmed fitment of the trd/kaaz/cusco/ats/ect. lsd's from the sxe10/gxe10 (is200 altezza) in the F-series diffs. The only difference is you need to use late model 'lsd' bearings that have a larger I.D. If you look at my post on my F-series diff swap in my AE86 I have the part #'s and info on it.

    Hey Ed,

I forgot about this until just now, but I have my old 3.58's from the rear of my 8" 4x4 'hilux'/tacoma pickup rear diff in a box in the garage that I can take measurements on if you want to check it against your r&p.

What is the chassis code for the IS300 (ie, 2JZ-GE Altezza)

    JCExxx?

If so, the only pic i can find of the diff for one shows it in the same "small" housing as the 7.5" IS200

You'd think if it was 8" internals they'd just use the Supra/Soarer/Aristo diff - why reinvent the wheel?

    edit: http://209.85.171.104/translate_c?hl...language_tools

aha - Def 8", you guys are right on the money, the text says it is 8" unlike the other JZX/IS diffs in the similar housing

Note though that some of those style of 'smaller' diffs have the 6-bolt axle stubs and some have only 4-bolt ones...

you may be mistaken the gearsets were probably common to later cars
and i just got a 4.557 gearset new genuine toyota for a diff type which debuted in 1970

is anyone able to collaborate the following information????

According to the EPCD, the GS171 Crown Majesta came with an interchangeable 4.556:1 A series diff, C&P Part number is 41201-80015 if you wanted to check pricing with Toyota

I looked at the available OEM A series ratios a few years back which covers 3.2:1 through to 4.556:1.
GS171 is the same A series diff as JZA80/JZZ30/UZZ40 - I cross referenced the open diff centre part number from a UZZ40 to be sure... we bolt in UZZ40 and JZA80 centres and C&P in JZZ30 housings.
Surely easier and cheaper than rigging up a G series cradle in there.

Well according to the EPC, the 09/1999+ JZS177, UZS171, 173, 175 all have the same housing as the Supra/Soarer/Aristo

The other 17x Crown models including the GS171 have what looks liek the smaller JZX/Altezza diff housing, however as the CWP appear to be interchangable they must also be 8" internals as the IS300 is....

Now to get one - good luck

From the look of that above correlated with my chat with a guy at toyota dealers spare parts help desk it would seem that anything starting with the same 41201 is compatable.

Following is what I found out, still to cross ref supra part no's to other models.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the EPCD, the GS171 Crown Majesta came with an interchangeable 4.556:1 A series diff, C&P Part number is 41201-80015 if you wanted to check pricing with Toyota

The above is available form Toyota Australia, $765- + GST.

    LN166
    167
    107 Hilux, 107 & 111 Australian models
    111
    205
    GS131
    151 Crown etc
    171

    ------------------------------------------------

    Supra JZA80

    2JZGTE Auto
    Crownwheel and pinion Part No
    41201-80031 49-13 or 3.969:1

    2JZGE Auto
    Crownwheel and pinion Part No
    41201-59175 49-12 or 4.083:1

My understanding of Toyota part numbers is the first number (eg the 41201) just tells you what the part is, for example diff gear set, it alone cant be used to identify anything else about the part

So i dont think you could assume compatibility from that number alone

its the second bit of the part number that identifies the item

    Anyone care to verify this?

It was just he that related it to compatibility, and that other gear sets from different models of the same car had different no's.

fwiw 41201-80027 is the same ratio as 41201-59175 (jza80 auto non turbo, Lexus IS250)

also found that 41201-80031 is JZA 80, Crown (??model) and Aristo (??model)

Also gbox codes in the table:

    4FC is 4sp auto
    6F is 6 speed manual

Nah, AE86s for example clearly would not be compatible (live axle rear) but they have the same number...
