1uz into MA61/xZ1x has been done a few times before, so it would be worth looking at what is involved in those conversions.
Does your car already have a 1G in it and you are tired of it???![]()
Hey all, looking to give the Mrs car a makeover. A little tired of the 1ggte and looking to go a 1uz. Anyone done one here? Any pitfalls I need to be aware of? I dont want a to make this a debate about turbo V non turbo, just some constructive help would be appreciated. Conveterd this originally back in 1997 and time for a change, hence the V8 thought.
Thanks
Andrew

I hope this doesn't fall in your "I dont want a to make this a debate about turbo V non turbo" category, but this is just some thoughts from me
>>A stock 1uz will have about the same power as a 1ggte.
>>Fitting a 1uz will be quite a bit of work, it is possible, but it will be a lot of work.
>>Making the 1uz manual isn't particularly cheap
It makes poor money / performance sense to me, but that is just my opinion!
(unless your putting turbos / SC on the 1uz)
Advice:
>You will prbly want a front sump 1uz
>You may get away with the restrictive crown block hugging headers working...
Cheers

Ok, yes its already Gen 3 1ggte with mines management and the usual tweaks. Am looking to go 1UZ and fit it ourselves, and maybe boost it up at a later stage. My son sold his soarer and bought an aristo with a 1uz in it and love how smooth and easy it runs, and reckon a blower on one of these in a celica would be a nice package. My biggest concern is suspension and diff. Thats what a want most advice on.
Thanks again,
Andrew
chuck big turbo onto the 1g?

complete guide pretty much.
1uz> 1g anyday.

previous toyo engines - 18rc, 18rg, 7mgte x2, 1uzfe x5, 4agze, 1jzgte x2, 1ggte x2
current toyo's- toyota supra jza80
Thanks a heap, really helps, but what suspension and diff options? Its RA60 so solid rear end. Will leave the car auto and get a MV autos valve body again. Been speaking to the guys at technotoytuning and they have been extremely helpful, so mainly now the rear end is the major concern. Been reading about hilux rear ends etc, but want to go with something that allows same stud pattern front and rear for wheel matching.
Again, thanks
Andrew
well i have a ma61 1uz
currently i have
suspension = king springs and pedders shocks
diff - standard F series lsd atm, but iv ordered my truetrac lsd centre and bearings, which is a straight swap.

Holty, if you want to talk about suspension, drop me another line. I've gone a bit further with mine than most people here
The T3 stuff... it's really nice that they make gear to suit our cars, but the top hats needed modification (don't like the floating upperhat design, it gave me issues when used with street-rate springs) and the castor rod threads developed surface rust after not much time.
In regards to diff, RA60 has a T series....
F series would prbly be enough if you keep the 1uz NA, MS112 would be the first donor I'd look at as it has Disks already.
If you want to SC / turbo the 1uz I'd look into a G series (Hilux) diff...
A few good threads on diffs
Cheers
