    Default Boost Controller Mount

Hey all... Concerned a bit about vibration wearing the Turbotech BC excessively, here's where i mounted it:

I think it'll be ok.. and this means the best BC response...
    Thoughts/opinions/experiences welcome.
    Cheers.

its only a bleed valve by the looks of it anyway
so who cares if somehing happens to it

but it should be fine , mine was just hanging for about a year or two

i just realized that you have actually bolted it to the frame!!! haha mine is just zip tied to something!!! and the Supra's is an EBC so it is bolted to the chassis!!! but itll be fine!!

    lol.

Yes, that is actually p-clamped to the block.. and i was ACTUALLY concerned about vibrations wearing the spring/ballbearing arrangement..

pato: just hanging = the best form of anti-vibration (unless its smashing into something)

    woggin: yeah.. hmm.

Appreciate the opinions - has anyone heard of a MBC wearing out and no longer holding boost?

Bleed valves are always questionable so i guess the answer is yes and no.

Do you worry about your valve springs and the vibrations?

    I wouldn't be concerned.

Also the failure mode as I see it is stock boost, so isn't dangerous.

buy a gizzmo ebc, cheap $200 ish and work great, no need to shit a brick every time your bleed valve decides to spike ;-)

Kedderz: if i wanted to spend $200 on an ebc, im fairly sure i would have.. seeing as though i havent, i'd say i didnt want to. As far as i can see, this unit cannot be responsible for spiking - only an idiotic installation.

Also the failure mode as I see it is stock boost, so isn't dangerous.

Exactly, not dangerous, but not desirable either - I assume the ball bearing is operating under some fairly small clearances in the brass fitting. I was scared all the vibrations etc might smash away at the clearance.

Take it apart and have a look, and you will see how it works

They aren't a really complex design, and I think it will be fine...

my vavle (same as yours) is suspended in mid air by the stiffness of the vacuum lines.

i can cable tie the lines somewhere if i want, but i reckon you will have more vibration by bolting it down than if it was just 'floating'

if vibes are what you worry about, then instead of bolting the valve directly, just use some 'p' clamps and secure the blue vacuum line either side of the vavle. that way any shock it taken by the rubber lines.

The ball seating and unseating with changes in pressure will cause far more wear (yet still negligible) than any vibrations it will experience. Especially considering the ball is either seated or unseated and in both cases it won't experience wear from vibration.

I used the exact same boost controller for a couple of thousand K's and it looked exactly the same internally when I removed it as when I fitted it. Mine was on a shorter line path than yours and was able to simply sit suspended by the vac line.

It's a strange concern to have for a $20 part

thats a beautiful installation, im very impressed with the attention to detail, however your concern of the life of the bleed valve is humorous. They are a simple mechanical device that id expect to last a lifetime regardless of any kind of mis-treatment you could subject it to.

to be honest when i saw the thread title i though it was about an electronic boost control solenoid as in that case yes you should try to mount it away from heat and vibrations.
