four bolts? or u mean five? or u talking about the bolts around the lip?![]()
post a picture of your damage. depending on the damage, you can get it fixed by a shop. They'll just re-roll the rim. but it sounds a bit more than just a little lip damage.
Ok this is what happened.
I hit a kerb and now my rim is bent, and the tyre has a chip taken off and it itself is bent inward because of the rim pushing it in.
The rims I have are BBS RS 16", The main part with the spokes is not bent just the lip is bent. Would I be able to straighten this or do i need a new wheel.
Problem is, I cant take my rim off, my rims are somehow locked in, I take the five bolts out but it wont come out, is there anything holding it in?
Also if anybody would have a spare BBS RS 16" Rim that they would like to sell could you please post.
Thanks.

Yes five thanks for that.
I mean the five center bolts, even with them taken off i still cant take the rim off, so its somehow "locked' , maybe to prevent theft?
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/794/bbsapartqq5.jpg - I will get a pic of mine tommorow but only the lip bit is bent.
after taking off the wheel nuts, the centre is still bent so that it is locked to the hub? bugger
jack it up and spin wheel and see if you can see and warps or bend when you spin it

Even before I hit the kerb the rim was like this, all four rims actually, would not come off even when the five bolts are off.
As for the damage, no other damage apart from the one area where the lip is bent inward.

so they are properly locating onto the hub then?
give em a kick, and next time clean up the locator part of th ehub...
if it is not sticking on the locator.. then something else is wrong
err.. you could loosely put the nuts back on, then run into another gutter, then should loosen it![]()

Vote 2 for kicking. Theyre probably tight on the hub locator.
I'd say they can probably be fixed. I had one of my wheels fixed after tearing a bit out of a spoke and damaging the outer lip. Cost $180 incl repainting it.

Well I haven't tried kicking, but i've tried pulling insanely, tried this with all 4 wheels, this makes me think that they are somehow locked on, and need some sort of special device for removing.
its probably the rust on the hub rings that stuck the wheel in place
try using some rust off and like everyone said- kick it
lol ... you might break your leg kicking it so watch out! ... why not try a hammer instead?or u can even try to lever it out somehow ...
the rims can be fix and straighten up ... there is a guy in Cannington who does that and he is currently doing my wheels ... he charge around 100bucks a wheel depending on how bad are they.
you can come to the panel shop in East Victoria Park that I work in if you want (just working there part-time for fun haha). The owner is a good friend of mine and I'll ask him to take the rims off and send them for repair ... Not sure how much he'll charge but shouldn't be much

Yeah I didnt want to hammer it, as I remember on my bmx bike, which has much thinner rims. They were bent, and I tried to hammer it straight, it straightened but it had lots of cracks on it.
Here are the Pictures of the Damage :
As you see its the outer part of the lip thats bent, the area around the little bolts did not get affected.
And I managed to take the rim off, Didn't get upto trying kicking, but punching worked, +rep.

doesn7t look too bad at all.. should be fixable...
and as said before, clean up your hub locators before putting the rims on again
some wet n dry, and even a bit of grease or WD40 on there first to stop em sticking next time?

yeah thats fixable.
also looks like you have alloy hub locator rings. just spray some wd40/inox into there wait a bit then kick the rim. It should come off![]()
