Default Is my wiper arm bent? (89 camry)

    Hi,

    Bit of a strange one,

The driver's side wiper arm on our camry (SV21) catches on the edge of the bonnet when the bonnet is opened or closed. I haven't noticed it before, but I don't drive the car normally.

Also, on the return wipe it doesn't wipe smoothly. It shudders down the windscreen.

I've checked that it's tight ( and it is) so I'm trying to work out why it's happening...

Does anyone know if that arm is supposed to have an upward bend in it down where it mounts onto the drive spindle or is it supposed to be the same as the passenger side??

( normally these cars are everwhere, but , at the shops yesterday do you think I could find one in the car park to have a look at )

    Cheers.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's always done it, the same problem occurs in basically every single AE82 Corolla, it's a flaw in the design. One way I've heard about fixing it is to space the bonnet up a mm or so with some washers, haven't tried it yet though

    Thanks for the tip,

Your idea might do the trick as it only just catches it on the way past.

Didn't even think of that, I'll have a look at it.

    Cheers.
