    Default 1GGTE head on a 1GGE

as most of you know by now I own a GZ10 Soarer, I am thinking about doing a 2JZGE conversion, but i'm just wondering. Would it be better bang for buck to put the turbo gear on my block instead then going the 2JZGE route . It's just another thought I was having considering i've allready got a 1G bottom end. what i'm wondering is whether i'll end up getting more for less

You'd be much better off dropping a whole 1GGTE and ECU in there.

With a 1GGE-T you'll have to sort out fueling issues, and such.
And even on a lowly 5-6psi (I wouldn't run any more on the NA motor/ecu) the 2JZGe will shit all over you.

It would take about 10-12psi on a 1GGTE to top the 2JZGE, and thats only on paper.

btw AFAIK the 1GGE and 1GGTE heads are the same, its just the cams/intake manifold/exhuast manifolds that differ.

yeah i looked into doing much the same thing. I found it much easier just to drop in a 1G-GTE. It is a pretty easy conversion. If your interested i could come by and show you how a 1G-GTE GZ10 goes, i am quite happy with the power.

As Peewee said, it makes much more sense to just drop a new engine in there, be it 1GGTE or 2JZGE. The alternative would be fraught by problems, and not be worth the hassle, not to mention not perform as well.

In addition to all that, your compression would still be 9.5:1 No good for turbo application.

Most of the earlier 1G's like that I heard are about 9.1:1, which on the contrary I think is perfect for a street driven turbo application

I wouldn't be attempting mucking around with shit like that without tuning it. It has enough problems as is.

It's been a while since I took a look at a 1G-GE head, but i'm pretty sure that it doesn't have things like the oil feeds for the turbos, but it's way better just to drop in the 1G-GTE.

Of course I could look at my gallery:

You can kinda see one of the oil feeds on a 1G-GTE in this pic:

For the amount that a 1GGTE is worth (nothing), just bolt it in. Hassle free power
