I think you guys are forgetting these are all race cars with race car exhausts and race car gear boxes.

Not the local exhaust shop down the road with a normal unmodified gear box

So you're saying that with road registration, engine sound gheys out?

With that logic, then fitting a Rover V8 for sound is they gheyest possible reason to do this conversion.

Heres his options as far as i can see it

1UZ = Cool, No rego, Mad note
1MZ = Cool, With Rego, Will have a note, and not a bad one at that!
4AG = Cheap, Done to death, Mad note.

My conclusion, F**k it off and buy a Celsior if you want a nice V8 note.

That line right there pretty much invalidates your argument. The 4A is one of the worst sounding engines ever, if fact when most people I know hear a shitty sounding car they use the refference that it "sounds like a 4A".

i think the options are more like.. accept that a V8 into small car is no longer possible or sensible, and to buy a larger car and put a V8 into that.

but seriously.. if he is willing to spend $10-$20K for a V8 conversion just to sound cool... well... i'm not sure toymods can help with that

buy a soarer, they are pretty cheap these days...

99% of NA 4A's sound like arse.

The best sounding 4A I have heard was a 20V 4AG rally car screaming through the forest.

Choosing an engine based almost solely on sound is one of the most retarded reasons I have ever heard.

I know you want to build something special Radar but make it stand out with quality work and attention to detail, not by using some crappy underwhelming engine that will only cause you grief, heart ache and an empty wallet. So what if you use an engine that has been done before, just do it better.

For every stupid thread I've started I've learned something, and its a few days amusement for those involved, whats wrong with that lol?
But advice taken, i'll keep my wacky idea's to my lonsome
