Fuck know's where this thread is suppose to be going
My uncle has a Rnagie V8, he popped an engine 'coz it spat a belt and over heated slightly .
Got a secondhand replacement for it for rediculous dollars (for what they are).
Had the old 1 sitting there and my uncle remarked that they look to have plenty of potential...... to bring them upto the standard of the most mundane japanese engine built in the last 30 years.

I really do see the point of the CRAP range motor... Point in the first place was a V8 in a TA22 without sacrificing uneven weight balance, from an engine that needs to go on a diet

He starts a thread like this one to two times a week. It's funny to read, but really quite annoying.

"yeah woooo wooooo" The crowd errupts as GT8 takes applause for his sharp and witty call...... Good call Justen.

Radar, you asked what people here thought about the Rover 3.5. They told you. I too like the idea of a nice sounding N/A v8 in a Ta22, a rover engine may have some things that you like about it. That said, you may find two things to take away from this thread. You and your old man might learn some things from people on this forum and Rover v8's are ghey. (Like the guy from "Ready Steady Cook")

    My 2 cents

Ferarri makes little V8s... perhaps something a little more attainable... Fords Windsor started as a 221 ci.. (3.6 Litre) engine.. in the very early 60s. The early Windsors have a 5 bolt bellhousing later engines (from around 1966) have a 6 bolt bellhousing the same as the Clevelands...
    Sizes avalable... 221 / 3.6....... 260 / 4.3......289 / 4.7......302 / 4.9......Series three AU Tickfords has a 5.6 litre stroker (around 347 ci ..) and there was a 351 / 5.8 but it is a 1 inch taller (therefore wider) block.. these engines have been taken out to 427 / 7.0 and beyond...

Windsors are not heavy for an all iron engine, and lots of factory and aftermarket alloy bits are available.....

These are a tough engine that can make plenty of power reliably..

finding a 221 would be difficult but not impossible..

why not just sleeve a 1UZ down to make it below the capacity required?
it has 87.5mm pistons adn 82.2 stroke?

to make a 3.5, you need 82.3mm pistons

sleeve it down to 82 and that is 40 thou over 4AG pistons and just under 3.5l....

or you could destroke (more painful)

all the goodness (and bulk) of the 1UZ and vee ate sound... and legal capacity

sure it might cost a bit, but what other options do you have?
    it costs to look pretty

We have come up with a better solution.

Buy smashed V6 Camry from auctions, remove V6 and all associated EFI control shite and sell the remains to some shifty Turks.
Fit to TA22 with S series bellhousing or adaptor ring.
Modify intake plenum so throttle body points to front.
Do all the other bullshit required to RWD a FWD motor.
    ???
    Profit from reliable 210 hp.

Screw the S series bell housing or adaptor ring, that setup is just crying out for an Altezza six speed.

The early V series engines are another option for small capacity V8's (they go right back to 2.5 litres) but this isn't an option I'd recommend. The 1MZ ticks all the right boxes, do it.

except the exahust note.. which is the only sane reason why you'd go a dinosaur V8 with plenty of problems over a hi tech 4/6cyl with few problems.

i cant think of any light, cheap, small capacity v8s that would be worthwhile installing in a toyota. the easiest option in my opinion would be an LS1 or 1uz with a destroked crank and superlong rods.. and mega cam/s

    12,000rpm v8.. ooohh yeah
