adding a plumb-back will actually make your turbo system *quieter*.. this is the main reason I'm installing one on my setup
My new 1ggte corona is coming together and is getting the intake plumbed up next week. I have installed a pair of td04-9b turbo's and a stock 1ggte top mount water to air intercooler. As the plumbing is quite short there is limited places to mount a BOV but do I really need one? The stock setup didnt have one and it was fine and made 170rwkw on 15psi of boost. I know the advantages to having a bov is to increase the life of a turbo and minimise compresor stall but just as a street car should I bother? The only place It would be added to the intake plumbing is by attaching it to the top mount water to air intercooler. I have a plumb back turbosmart bov ready to go but I can put it away for my other project. The corona is sleeper style too so I dont just want to add a bov for wank factor either!!

thanks i wasnt aware!
Hi,
Don't forget to add the fart cannon to make up for any lost noise if you do a plumb-back.

Well yeah if you don't care whether your car sneezes or not then i reckon you should go a plumback. will give you better response after a change. especialy seeing as your gettin more serious with your 1G... bigger turbo's etc.
I chose a plumb back so I dont have any legal issues and since my corona is far from a ricer that includes not having a cannon. I must say though that was the greatest piece of advice river...Originally Posted by Pube

Also im using an airbox so there shouldnt be too much induction noise. Although is it worth the effort of cutting and welding my intercooler to mount a BOV??

Hi,
Sorry sunshine. I was being a bit frivolous, and I apologise for my outburst.Originally Posted by Pube

IMO, no. There is no performance benefit to be had by installing a BOV. If you want to reduce noise (ie compressor surge) go for it, otherwise don't bother.Originally Posted by Pube

I have a top mount on my 1g, i got a pipe cut and welded onto the intake side tank. it is a plumb back but i have a pod filter and you can hear the noise through the filter. i have an EMS computer and have taken off the idle control unit on the inlet manifold, front engine side. this gave me room to mount the bov. when i go to the drags i take off the returne pipe and block off the hole in the pipework, it does make a differance.
Bov's are ghey. Dose pipe it up FTW![]()

Plus I like increasing my turbo's life and spool time.

You've got your opinion.. I've got mine...
I've seen a turbo shaft turned to licorice because of it, so I'm going to stick to my way.
