There are two part numbers for the 2JZ-GTE Waterpump (Non Hydraulic Fan Type)
that I can find on the Microcat system we use at work to confirm parts prices..

    16100 49845 - 5/93 to 6/95 - Toyota Supra
    16100 49846 - 6/95 to 1/96 - Toyota Supra

Looking at the 2JZ-GE part numbers..

    16100 49835 - 3/93 to 6/95 - GS300 (JZS147)
    16100 49836 - 6/95 to 8/97 - GS300 (JZS147)

    16100 49835 - 3/93 to 6/95 - Supra (JZA80)
    16100 49836 - 6/95 to 8/98 - Supra (JZA80)

    16100 49875 - 8/97 to 4/01 - GS300 (JZS160)
    16100 49876 - 4/01 to 1/05 - GS300 (JZS160)

    16100 49835 - 8/91 to 6/95 - SC300 (JZZ31)
    16100 49836 - 6/95 to 9/99 - SC300 (JZZ31)
    16100 49837 - 9/99 to 7/00 - SC300 (JZZ31)

    16100 49875 - 5/00 to 4/01 - IS300 (JCE10)
    16100 49876 - 4/01 to 6/04 - IS300 (JCE10)

I'll double check the 1JZ listings and get back and post my findings

its a 92 model if that helps you projectsleeper. if i had the chassis code in my back pocket i would give that to you as well but alas I don't (ironically i do have one for an ra63 for some reason though ).
what you wrote above is interesting. the code with the 6 at the end is for later model supras but the 5 is for early model ones. and this is an early model soarer that i will be doing this to.
i assume that means the hydraulic fan was chenged on supra to be same as soarer or vice versa at a time down the track.

Im up for replacing this stuff too.

I went to bursons They have no idea. I was quoted $100 for the sparkies, and they went platnums. And they wanted $250 for each engine mount, not genuine. LOL

just nodded my head and walked out

platinums have been reccommended by everyone i spoke to and were roughly 15-16 bucks per plug (15 x 6 = 90 so it is about right)

Sorry bad spelling. Yeha I know that they platinums are around $20 and Im OK with that.. but they were not platinums. Just good old regulars.

Sorry to hiJack the thread. but quick question. Where is the engine number in the 1jzgte? I had a bit of a look on the soarer but no luck as yet.

    *shrugs*

Last night I checked the oil level in the Soarer. Looks a lit high...

Ok, check it again... Nah cant be...

    Once more..

Yes, thats right. The previous owner has put about 5 liters more than he should have. No wonder the rear turbo is leaking a little. Now Im too scared to drive it to my parents, so Im going to try and drop some of the oil where it sits. Urg on grass..

ok confirmed with toyota 1610049845 was superceded by 1610049846 it is the same part for 1jzgte as it is for the 2jzgte
and as chris davey alludes to the 2jzge (non turbo) is the different one

Did fuel filter on the weekend.

When you pull it off. The tank will drain. URG! This meant loosing 10 liters. AH well.

I had repco Z383 filter. Did NOT fit.

I had to get filter Z373 *Will make sure this is the correct part number after work*

Ended up cross threading that one and had to go back to get another. There ya go Kiddies $70 of fuel filter. Lesson learnt... Priceless.

If your in Melb. I recomend East Coast Auto Spares
    BENTLEIGH EAST 912- 926 North Rd 3165
    9570 6188

They were real helpful and know their stuff.

I am getting the timing belt/Serpentine/water pump in from them too.

EDIT: Dont ask for their fuel filter though I used their last 2. HAH

Might do a write up of how to do it too.

    .

you need to de pressurize the fuel system first

take out the fuel pump fuse
    start car
idle till runs out of fuel
turn key off and try and start again
    that will depressurize the system

hey I'm due for this myself now and i was wondering about a couple of things

i'm thinking of replacing all seals and gaskets in the engine. but i am so very poor, so i wont mind not doing a few like the welsh plugs or head gasket. but what I'm wondering is what are all the things i could change?
it does leak a little oil and smokes under bonnet at times (I'm told its the cam cover seals?) also smoke out the exhaust on some start ups and just driving around sometimes, so thats probably vavle stem seals AND the ever reliable ct12a's

i have fair mechanical skill, ive changed water pumps and clutches before but never things like vlave stem seals or crank seals so i am probably looking at taking it to a workshop, at least for the engine things.
would i be better buying the parts from coventries (i can get westrac discount) and rocking up at say ovaboost and saying hey man, i need these things replaced in my car, please do it for me. or just going to a toyota and getting them to do the lot?

    can anyone recomend perth workshops?

    thankyou for your time
    beatle

get a mechanic to do the stem seals, depending on what they will charge, may be worth ripping the head off and send that to them.

welsh plugs and head gasketes are only ever done when needed, not periodically

Have to ask, the 2j water pump pully is supposedly differnt to the 1j. Correct? Did the pumps you guys brought come with a pully?

Reason i ask is i have 1j pump (on car) and a 2j pully to go on some time soon. I was considering changing to the 2jz pump to use the pully, SO are the pullies interchangeable? The 2j pump fits up fine?
