pulley goes over the end of the water pump snout yes?
i can only give you dimensions of the pump itself as i haven't pulled the engine apart yet to do the timing (94000KMS and counting).

Yeah the big wheel that the belt goes round! More wondering the HOW the pully bolts onto the pump, bolt pattern or whatever...

Yeah I'm in the same boat, pump on car waiting, pully/belt ect on the book self just trying to find out if i need a 2jz-gte water pump to suit the pully! Wilbo has told me that they are different but if you guys are fitting the whole pump and it doesn't come with a pully then I'm guessing they pullies (and pumps!) must be interchangable...

    this is incorrect

if your running a hydro water pump it is different AND the pulley is different

non hyrdo (2jz pump and also found on some 1jz's) on the left and hyrdo on the right in the link below

the pump on the left uses a pulley that has 4 bolt holes and the pump on the right uses a pulley that has 1 bolt hole

the non hyrdo pump you can get for $120-130 trade from toyota but the pulley is around $300 or somthing ridiculous so either find one second hand or get one made up

maybe a better statement would be to see what sort of pump you are running first by a simple inspection because i was 100% certified by toyota that my water pump at home that it says is a 2jzgte water pump will definately fit on the 1jzgte.
ps my pump is the one on the left in the picture for a 2jzgte.

eep. well Evil Jack that does make it more interesting.

I have the one on the left. if you haev the one on the left.. then 1jz = 2jz otherwise.. well screwed if I know. Im not a 1j guru just going off my own experiences.

ok shamelessly stolen from soarer central
"I've now confirmed that the parts for jzx90's and TT soarers are definitely different (my part number is 16110-46011). I can order this part without the hydraulic assembly but it is still three times the price of the soarer pump"
the internet also tells me something of JZA70 model supra's having this hydraulic water pump setup also.
It also mentions that you could swap over to the cheaper soarer/jza80 style water pump but will need to find or fabricate a pulley for it. (as EvilJack mentions).
    so a mixed bag
1jzgte pumps should be the same as 2jzgte pumps...unless you have the hydraulic water pump style 1jzgte. these are found on jzx90 chasers and possibly jza70 supras.
if you have the hydraulic type, apparently you should convert to the non hydraulic/cheaper type to save you financial heartache..

Guys I am doing a 100k service (2nd one for the engine) soon for my car with the help of Barned01 (original poster)

We checked last night, the JZA70 Supra had a hydro water pump . His girlfriends Soarer has the 2JZ style water pump (checked both last night).

The Supra is a 1990 version, so maybe they changed it in the later JZA70's I don't know.

    Anyway damn it!

For whoever has changed from the hydro setup, what is involved?, and what thermo fan did you use in the place of the hydro fan?

I am hoping I dont have to change it (prev owner may have done it - awaiting confirmation), but if I do need to replace it I don't want to buy a new hydro one due to the stupid cost involved.

Umm ok, if mine is in need of a replacement then I think the 2JZ one is a given

    2JZ pump
    Billet pulley
