dyno run has been booked in for next week
white plugs can also be caused by different additives in different fuels,
i personally havn't had any dramas using vortex98 so i can't see why you would be, i only use it because BP is 10mins away versus Caltex being 1min away.
a single dyno run could tell you a shiteload of info that you are currently looking for and would cost less than the fuelpump you just changed for no apparent reason, nudge nudge wink wink.

There is really only 2 things to read on a plug which are a sure way of telling you whats going on. The 2 main things to look for is the discoloration of the ground strap & the length it extends to help define correct ignition timing and the heat ring on the porcelin & its location up or down the the plug telling you whats going on with mixtures and combustion temp.
I may add reading plugs accurately on pump fuel is usually a futile task anyhow. Ofcourse a different matter with purified racing fuel or methanol. The qaulity or the purity of the fuel being the major factor in getting a good plug "read".
New plugs should always be used and engine shut down immediately after a run otherwise there isnt really much point to the exercise.
My car had a successful run on the dyno today. Since the compression had changed due to the shaving of the head, the stock ecu cannot control the timing enough to cope with 15psi anymore. The timing was adjusted back to 8 deg base and boost was reduced to 13psi. Trade off is the same peak power but with less boost and most importantly, no pinging. An added bonus is more power down low as well. Overall im happy enough with the result.

something tells me that the normal "skim" was more then just a "skim" you had done on the head.

That's a nice looking curve.
How long until it has some programmable management to take advantage of that higher compression ratio?
so just how high is your compression?
motor im looking at building now is gonna be somewhere over 9...![]()

Punctuation is the difference between 'I helped my Uncle Jack off his horse' and 'I helped my uncle jack off his horse.'
It wont be getting any aftermarket ecu unfortunately. I cant justify spending any more money on it. Not too sure what compression it has at the moment. Next thing to do is some paint and time to enjoy. Thanks everyone for their input.
