Are the converter realy in the right position?
hey guys,
I got a 5M-E which in putting into my MZ10, now i took auto gearbox off to check a few things and im having difficulty putting the bastard back on, i have put the torque converter on the gearbox spline before aligning the box, and the bastard needs to come and extra half an inch and it just won't go any further. ive tried deburring the dowels and oiling them up etc, any tricks in doing this?
Also how hard would it be to put a W-40 behind a 5M in a MZ10?
Cheers Trent

I just wonder if the torque converter is really in the right spot. Rotate it a bit more and you might find it slides down on the shaft that extra inch or so.
As for just fitting up a W40, I really recommend a W50. You'll need the usual crap - pedal box, master and slave cylinders, hard lines, spigot bearing, flywheel and clutch. Can't comment on the tailshaft length but I'd imagine it'll be different. You'd probably just have to replace the front half though if at all.
W58 would be a better option for a manual conversion since it will bolt right up with factory bits. W40/W50 will require some sort of custom crossmember arrangement.
