I do see RT142's come up for a reasonable price from time to time, check ebay of course and also there is one on boostcruising.com atm. Local classifieds can be good as well.

I really do love my corona, I keep thinking about selling her but everytime I drive her I don't feel like it as she is so comfortable. Once I get serious and up the boost then I will see if I wanna keep her.
They are worth having very nice to drive and the interchangeability with the MA61 is a great feature.
Very convenient car to throw a 1G in as well, if you want to do it on the cheap.

yeah, that maybe the one im looking at

whats the handling like compaired to other toyotas, i.e. ke70 or ma61? i was told that since the 4 wheels are at the 4 corners of the car, then the car responds really well.

if thats true about the interchangeablity between the rt132 and ke70 then the price of rt132's will go thru the roof i know that ra60 T serise live axels are close to ke70/ae86 but the hangers are out but 20mm on each one. also, wouldnt the widths
vary between the t14 and t13 and ke70 or is it very minor change?

thanks for all the imput so far guys!!!

had a look at that one on boost crusing today and it wasnt very good to say the leased...

4cyl doesnt fire, clutch and/or gearbox on the way out, shifter bushes floged... a few dents, grass and mud all under neath (been used as a padoc basher) head gasket blown and oil every where!!! had a chat to a mate in the knwo and he's saying that 22r's are getting pretty expensive these days also... so i gave it a miss... 700 bucks for 2000+ worth of fix's + doing the engine up... just wasnt worth it.

but ive seen a few cheepish wagons for sale at the moment with 20/22r and i was jsut wondering what the rear end is in them?

live axle with coil springs or leaf springs?

Yeah xcedrick I have not heard off a rt series wagon with IRS I could be wrong but I have not seen one yet.

I suppose you need to decide whether you want IRS rear end or solid axel. It seems that there are advantages to both, seems like you can have more options with the solid rear by doing rear axel swaps or the hilux diff thing. Pube has some good advice regarding this.

The good thing about doing that way is that you can pick up a rt141 cheaper and easier than the rt142. But upon saying that if you are diligent and keep looking I am sure you will find a good one.
They are a grandpa car so there should always be the old one up for sale as people pass on.

I will keep my eye out for ya, if I personally see any I will pm you. Put the word out and you might be surprised what will come up.

The wagon is live axle, no leaf springs.
I tossed my diff in the bin at the local scrap merchants and threw in a Skyline wagon diff with a vl LSD center. Didn't even need to shorten it, easy cheap diff conversion. And as previously stated, Live axle handles better than IRS in coronas, I am a massive fan of IRS but ended up with an RT142 wagon and am very happy with its performance.

MA61 front hubs, vented discs and big calipers bolt straight on to the corona struts, no mods required except cutting some thread off the supra brake lines. to plug them in where the rona ones were

I went for a 1GGZE, much cheaper than trying to do any engine work to a 22r. my whole engine cost me 700 bucks. I threw a big pulley on the crank and now it goes quite hard and I still have an electric clutch for the charger.
The factory gearbox in my car is a w5x and even though its done 200,00 its still great.
Look in the tradingpost and you will easily find a good old rona RT142 in reasonable condition, most that come up on car forums have been thrashed and abused. I payed 1500 for my one owner grey grandpa.

    Long live the rona!

it pretty much doesnt bother me if i get IRS or live, i was hoping IRS since its the same rear end Z10 and ma61's and since i have 3 z10's it would of been useful for ordering parts in mutiples to save money (maybe ).

like you said, they both have the advantages/disadvantages... and after finding out the wagons are not leaf spring, well im pretty keen on a wagon if i cant find a sedan.

only thing is its got to be a R serise and manual, and after that ill have to work around that.
and now that i know what i want ill put a wnated add up soon.

would be cool to make soemthing nice and mint like this

    or this

*ill-minded - if we could mount the IRS into a wagon it would be on!!! lolz.

*Mickp - is the skyling live axle swap a bolt in affair? they both share the BW right?
and are you just running a STD. VL lsd or something after market like a mechanical clutch type?

***also + rep for everyone thats posted so far! this spot on what i was looking for, big thanks!

Unfortunately the only thing that is bolt on is the tailshaft flange which means no tailshaft modification.
All arms, the panhard rod and the mounts need to be adjusted. I was lazy and did not change the spring mounts, but it works good anyway.
I did it with a mate, however diff technics at kograh quoted quite a reasonable price to do the job. Just watch out if you go with them they love to put ghey stickers on your car without asking.....
I am just running a recoed VL v8 lsd, cone style but hey it works.

The 1GGTE does not even require moving the radiator, I had to move the radiator foward a little because the supercharger clutch and drive sticks out quite a way. You could do 3 1GGTE conversions for the price of a single 120 - 130 rwkw 22R build. costs of modifying an engine internally mount quickly.

If are in the sydney area you would be welcom to take a look at my build up, I have done a fair bit to my rona, but it looks dead stock from the outside and inside, (it even has an aircon condenser an no intercooler )

Nice pics you posted there. Gets me thinking.... I always wanted to get my hands on a wagon and turn it into a panel van.

Fark man I love those rims on that rona wagon.

I would love some dished rims for mine but they must be a special order thing because they always have the wrong offset.

thats a sweet photo chop ill-minded, didnt notice it at first the camber makes it that little bit sweeter.

you just got to search thru yahoo auctions japan, rims like thoes (assuming there SSR reverse mesh in a 16" maybe 8j ~8.5j i would think) you can get a set landed from around 1200 if your willing to wait a few weeks/month(s)
