I think you would want to use ARP head bolts and a fresh head gasket?
Just want to get a definitive answer here, my boss is going to retorque the head on his 7M-GE cressida... everything is stock include headbolts and gasket, just wondering what he should retorque the studs to.

i think, without searching, 78nm or foot pounds..... maybe try the seach button....
its been covered atleast 50 times![]()
Original motors head gasket lasted for 150,000km and he has had the cressy since new... doesn't go too easy on it either. Motor has been replaced as the last one was blown hard and warped to shit.
He isn't going to pull this one apart, just torque the head down tighter... 72ft pounds seems the go with the GTE's - any problem with setting a GE to those specs or is it overkill?
remember to turn engine on then get to operating temp, switch off and wait for for 4 hrs before retorqueing the gasket. DONT do it on a cold engine.
No problems using stock gastet and bolts at those specs many have done it.
