The 3T(-GTE) have 8 counterweights so it's very well balanced internally.Factory have wanted it to be very shmoot running so they added rubber bands on the pulley. The toothed belt drive will absorb any vibarations from crank.
Early T/R/... engines just have a pulley;no rubber in there and they run quite well as anyone can see...

Thats awesome news! Does anyone disagree?

If not I will be sending the pulleys over to the engineering place that already makes them for 4A's after I get back from OS. Will look into doing a group buy if anyone is interested.

    cheers

    Nath,

Harmonic balancers were added to engines for a reason by the manufacturer so should not be disguarded lightly. BUT, I ditched mine on the unicorn

The T engines with counterbalanced Crankshafts are very stable engine and Harmonics are not that bad or represent a big problem at all In my race T engines i use the small light aluminum front balancer from BRD and no belt at all, and never ever had a problem with harmonics and i have been as high as 580+WHP on a 3T drag motor, stock crank and 87mm pistons at 60+ PSI of BOOST

Maybe the brd racing one as suggested?

Ive just had a thought, seeing that the harmonic balancer doesnt need to be retained I might just get an adaptor plate made up inplace of the old pulley and then just get the waterpump gilmer pulley milled down and the center hole bored out to the shaft on the wp!

    Ricey,

Have a look at the Gilmer drive set up in my TA23 thread. The crank adaptor was made locally. Can't remember the company name but Jim at SAS could organize it for you.

With the water pump keep in mind there are two different shaft lengths.

i gave up on finding a new one.

I read up on putting a ford one on and other models but all have draw backs.
In the end I got my original one rewound/rebuilt with new reg.

In saying that, it lasted 4000kms before the regulator had to be replaced as it was a fault bosch item.

From memory there are draw backs from the ford one, like killing it from high revs? I could call the auto elec if u like? The copper was also rewound.
